Job description

Job Summary:
Provide web design guidance to university staff to enhance website performance and usability and assist colleges and departments with improving and maintaining their websites to support recruitment, retention and business goals. Develop an in-depth knowledge of colleges/departments audiences, programs and priorities. Study user behavior and revise sites accordingly, to improve effectiveness and user experience. Assist with supporting campus-wide web and communication projects.
Essential Functions:
40% Assist colleges and departments with web design and content edits to their sites or landing pages while supporting campus-wide web and communication projects and initiatives.
30% Maintain existing sites, auditing content to ensure accuracy and adherence to brand, web design system, SEO, web accessibility standards and governance.
30% Manage the day-to-day tasks of reviewing web project tracker requests and assignments including but not limited to, assisting with sending emergency text-messaging and managing additional online digital tools. Other duties as assigned.

Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
None.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of two years experience in web design or digital communications. Demonstrated expertise with previous web design projects. Experience managing website content via content management system. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SEO and WCAG 2.1/2.2, and ADA (Level AA) web accessibility standards. Experience using web analytics tool (Google Analytics or other). Knowledge of web design principles, information architecture, user experience, and user-centered design. Knowledge of mobile first design principles. Ability to train and counsel others on best practices in web, email design and other digital online tools. Strong project management skills. Experience managing multiple concurrent projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Preferred:
Experience managing mobile apps, knowledge of Bootstrap CSS framework, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, and experience utilizing repository workflows like GitHub. Familiarity with AI-assisted content creation tools and best practices for optimizing content for AI-powered search and generative search experiences.
