Their work ensures compliance with accessibility standards like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), making digital content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. As remote workers, they collaborate with design and development teams to audit, remediate, and implement accessible features, often using tools to test compatibility with assistive technologies. Job description

SpecterOps is seeking an experienced Web Developer with deep WordPress expertise to support the ongoing development, optimization, and maintenance of our public-facing web presence. You will work closely with our Marketing team to build and refine web pages, implement new functionality, and ensure our WordPress environment is well-maintained and scalable.

We're looking for a self-directed developer who communicates clearly, manages their own workload effectively, and takes ownership of deliverables from start to finish. You should be equally comfortable building new features from scratch and jumping into an existing codebase to troubleshoot and improve it. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and an eye for design to every engagement.

Hourly Range: $75 - $85/hour, commensurate with experience

Location:

This position is remote, based in the U.S. with optional travel quarterly for in-person company events and other ad hoc meetings.

  • Candidate must be authorized to work and reside in the United States; we do not currently sponsor immigration visas.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain WordPress-based web properties, including custom themes and plugins
  • Build and update landing pages, campaign pages, and site sections in close collaboration with Marketing and Design
  • Implement responsive, accessible, and cross-browser-compatible front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Optimize site performance including page speed, Core Web Vitals, and SEO best practices
  • Manage WordPress configuration, plugin updates, and security hardening
  • Integrate third-party tools and APIs including CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve front-end and back-end issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain clean, well-documented code and follow established development standards
  • Support QA and testing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality releases
  • Collaborate asynchronously with a remote-first team across Marketing, Design, and Operations

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional web development experience, with significant focus on WordPress
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (vanilla and/or modern frameworks)
  • Hands-on experience building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
  • Experience with WordPress VIP, including familiarity with its hosting environment, deployment workflows, and code standards
  • Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar tools
  • Experience integrating HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO
  • Solid grasp of WordPress security best practices and site hardening
  • Experience with Git-based version control workflows
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
  • Strong written communication skills for async collaboration

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with B2B tech or cybersecurity companies
  • Familiarity with headless WordPress or REST API integrations

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status. To request reasonable accommodations, please contact us at careers@specterops.io. Unsolicited resumes are not accepted.
