Position Objectives

The Warehouse Receiving Manager will increase company profitability and customer satisfaction by overseeing the receiving operations and team in a safe, secure, efficient, and cost-effective manner that complies with company policy, procedures, and OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.

Job Duties

General Responsibilities and Communication

  • Delegates, manages workload and holds the receiving team accountable.
  • Provides support - Offers resources, assistance and/or coaching as needed; ensures the tasks are completed correctly and timely by the team.
  • Actively involved in daily receiving duties. Ensure that materials received are free from damage.
  • Communicates information to company stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that the warehouse transfers and purchase orders are received promptly.
  • Understands company processes and procedures – Knows when to apply a technical skill or procedure, understand technical terminology and developments, understands warehouse management systems, business software, and material handling equipment.
  • Responsible for completing vendor and transfer error reports.
  • Prioritizes – Identifies more critical and less critical activities and assignments; adjusts priorities when appropriate.
  • Schedules all incoming freight appointments to avoid conflicts and ensure sufficient staffing.

Coaching and Developing Others

  • Establishes and maintains training as required by management.
  • Establishes good interpersonal relationships by helping people feel valued and appreciated.
  • Creates a learning environment – Secures resources required to support development efforts; ensures that opportunities for development are available; offers assistance to help individuals overcome obstacles to learning.
  • Monitors progress – Gives individuals specific feedback on their performance related to established goals; highlights key positive and negative performance issues; adjusts plans to ensure development.
  • Leads by example – Models the behaviors, knowledge and practices. Demonstrates the characteristics that are expected of the individual who is being coached.
  • Managing conflict – Establishes a clear and compelling rationale for resolving the conflict. Not afraid to address conflict as it arises, in fact looks at conflict as an opportunity. Objectively views the conflict from all sides.
  • Ensures that the team follows all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Education and Experience)

  • Minimum 2 years in a similar position (4 years preferred)
  • Warehouse management system proficiency required.
  • Warehouse distribution experience required.
  • Management experience required.
  • Plumbing and/or HVAC experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Able to lift up to 100 lbs.
