Job Description

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for leading all warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, transportation, and order fulfillment activities. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of materials throughout the facility while maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting customer service objectives, and driving operational excellence.

This role provides leadership for warehouse personnel and is responsible for establishing standardized processes, optimizing labor and equipment utilization, maintaining regulatory compliance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role requires a highly visible leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment and can effectively balance customer service, inventory management, transportation, workforce development, and operational performance.

As Operations & Business Systems Manager, you are responsible to:

  • Direct and oversee all warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory management, material movement, order fulfillment, shipping, and returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of customer orders while meeting established service level expectations.
  • Allocate labor, equipment, and resources to support changing business demands and operational priorities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard work, operating procedures, and warehouse best practices.
  • Establish departmental goals aligned with site objectives and corporate initiatives.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to warehouse and logistics personnel.
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through cycle counting, reconciliation activities, and process discipline.
  • Monitor warehouse transactions to ensure compliance with inventory control requirements and ERP system standards.
  • Lead efforts to identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies and transactional issues.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, labeling, traceability, and disposition of materials.
  • Develop and maintain programs that support inventory accuracy and warehouse organization.
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP S/4HANA, and supporting technologies to improve operational performance.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of materials.
  • Monitor warehouse throughput, shipping schedules, and service performance metrics.
  • Ensure proper shipment documentation and compliance with transportation requirements.
  • Lead and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure accurate inventory transactions, effective logistical execution, and high service levels.
  • Adhere to Corporate Transportation Guidelines to consistently select the most appropriate carriers for customer shipments.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of domestic and international shipping requirements and documentation, including Full Truckload (FTL), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), expedited freight, parcel, air freight, and ocean freight shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs requirements, freight classifications, and carrier requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Logistics, Customer Service, Production, Planning, and Procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate order processing.
  • Manage transportation costs while maintaining service expectations and customer satisfaction.
  • Champion a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, hazardous material handling guidelines, company policies, and transportation regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Lead corrective actions related to safety, quality, inventory, and operational findings.
  • Ensure safe operation and maintenance of material handling equipment.
  • Promote and sustain workplace safety programs and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Root Cause Analysis, and Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Lead 5S implementation and sustainability efforts throughout all warehouse and logistics areas.
  • Analyze warehouse performance metrics and develop improvement plans that increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Drive process improvements through data analysis, employee engagement, and continuous learning initiatives.
  • Identify and implement technology solutions that enhance inventory control, productivity, visibility, and execution.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop warehouse team members and front-line supervisors.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and development planning discussions.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership during organizational changes and business growth initiatives.
  • Promote employee engagement and succession planning activities.
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, Customer Service, Purchasing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams.
  • Support site operational objectives and customer commitments.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, strategic planning activities, and business reviews.
  • Assist with SAP S/4HANA, WMS, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Qualifications

To perform your job as expected, you will be required to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, supply chain, or related operational leadership roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience leading warehouse or logistics teams.
  • Manufacturing environment experience required.
  • Experience managing inventory control systems and warehouse operations. 
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, receiving, shipping, transportation, and distribution processes.
  • Experience using SAP S/4HANA, ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and transportation management systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international transportation modes and shipping requirements.
  • Experience managing carrier relationships, freight costs, transportation performance, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
  • Strong knowledge of inventory controls, cycle count programs, and warehouse analytics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
