Position Description:
As part of the Data Asset Development team (D.A.D), this role will be an enabler of Walmart's journey to be the world's leading data-driven retailer. As part of this transformation, Walmart is seeking an individual who will be responsible for partnering with the business to execute data governance activities, cataloging and managing Walmart data assets such as KPIs, Reports Applications, Business glossaries and partnering with business and technical stakeholders to onboard business and technical metadata to our Data Governance Center (DGC - Collibra) using established tools and processes and ensuring the overall fitness of our data.
Walmart is looking for a highly motivated, resourceful, team-oriented Data Steward who has a passion for data, and will manage Walmart's data in partnership with the business and technical stakeholders. The Data Steward may function as part of a business team, understand the business concepts, develop business glossaries, help harvest technical metadata, catalog applications, their data sources, KPIs and Reports in the DGC, associate business terms to technical meta data and help build the association between various data assets in the DGC. The Data Steward, under the guidance of the business lead steward, will research and develop the information required to catalog the data assets and partner with D.A.D and the business leads to advance the Data Governance Journey and Data Inventory program.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business and technology stakeholders to complete the phases and steps of data governance journey
Develop and manage business relationships with leaders across the organization.
Partner with business and Enterprise Governance teams to develop and execute the data Governance rollout and roadmap for our business and technical stakeholders.
Develop a deep understanding of the Enterprise Data Governance program and policies
Hands on cataloging and data assets creation and approval on DGC (Collibra)
Partner with Data Asset Development internal teams such as Data Inventory, Operations, Program teams as well as with various business and technical stakeholders.
Work in close alignment with various internal strategy and operations teams and in small units of 1-3 team members
Provide thought leadership and align the work of the team to the overall strategy of Data Governance
Drive data literacy efforts and collaborate with different parts of the organization to advance and mature our data governance posture via our stewardship community.
Be part a team that works with data stewards across the organization to ensure the ongoing health of data through its lifecycle.
Ensure best practices are being leveraged and enforced in firm initiatives via the stewardship community

Exhibit excellent ability to understand business concepts very quickly
Hands on experience in various data management areas including use of tools like Collibra, data profiling and other curation tools
Demonstrated track record of handling Enterprise data governance
Prior experience with role of data steward and/or a governance manager with exposure to data governance tools and processes
Have an understanding of technical data concepts and understand databases. SQLs and other technical terminology.
A team player, with the courage to drive change through disruption while maintaining a respect for the team.
Inquisitive, focused, and an abstract thinker.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Masters in Computer Science or related technical field.
Prior experience in Data governance and Steward roles
Experience in partnering with business and technology teams to implement governance requirements/or
Experience with data management and hands on experience using governance tools such as Collibra, and technical digital finger printing tools
Experience with data cataloging and data inventory areas
Good understanding of data concepts including data design and modelling in traditional and big data systems
Strong understanding of organization needs and ability to drive change
Strong leadership and communication skills
Must be able to work effectively both on teams as well as be self-motivated, task oriented and organized.
Strong customer focus and obsession with quality
Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment
