Job description

General Summary

The Area Vice President provides strategic and operational leadership for an assigned region within the telecommunications business. This position is responsible for aligning regional goals with the companyโ€™s vision, overseeing day-to-day operations, driving financial performance, supporting customer growth and retention, and ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of services. The Area Vice President has responsibility for meeting corporate financial goals and advancing operational excellence across the region.

Essential Duties
  • P&L ownership for the specified Region and all individual Branches
  • Oversee daily regional operations, including service delivery, field operations, customer support, and operational coordination across assigned branches.
  • Ensure projects, network investments, and operational initiatives are aligned with corporate return on investment, customer needs, and long-term regional growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, service reliability, customer experience, and profitability in the region.
  • Ensure all company policies, procedures, safety expectations, and applicable operational compliance requirements are followed across the region.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including financial, operational, customer, and workforce metrics, to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend change.
  • Work directly with sales, marketing, engineering, construction, and operations teams to identify and secure new business opportunities while maintaining customer retention and organic growth of the current customer base.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate regional employees and leaders, including setting performance goals, providing feedback and coaching, developing talent, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, community partners, vendors, contractors, and internal business partners.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with federal, state, and local governmental agencies to support regulatory alignment, broadband initiatives, permitting, funding opportunities, and community partnership efforts.
  • Identify and address regional issues or challenges, including customer escalations, resource constraints, operational gaps, and project risks, and develop solutions to resolve them.
  • Stay up to date on telecommunications industry trends, broadband technology developments, competitive activity, and regulatory or market changes, and recommend ways the company can adapt and remain competitive.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and execute company-wide strategies and initiatives.
  • Act as a key point of contact for regional management and serve as a strategic thought leader within the organization.
Experience / Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, operational management, engineering, telecommunications, or related field plus 8 years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Progressive leadership experience in operations, telecommunications, broadband, construction, customer experience, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of meeting corporate financial, operational, customer, and safety goals and objectives.
  • Proven experience developing and executing business strategy, operational plans, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and regional P&L management.
