    Summary:

    In this role, the VP, Head of Application Architecture will report directly to the SVP, Head of Engineering and Architecture. This leader will be responsible for establishing and driving enterprise and solution architecture strategies that align technology capabilities with business objectives. The individual will be a key advisor across strategic initiatives, promoting reusability, scalability, and innovation through a cohesive architecture practice. The role will partner closely with business, product, and engineering leaders across the organization and will chair the Architecture Review Board.

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree required (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

    Responsibilities:

    Architecture Strategy & Governance

    • Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles, blueprints, and reference models.
    • Lead the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and enforce architectural governance across initiatives.
    • Develop and champion strategic roadmaps aligned with business capabilities and technology evolution.
    • Evaluate new technologies and drive enterprise-wide innovation.

    Solution Architecture Leadership

    • Provide hands-on architecture leadership for complex, cross-functional projects.
    • Develop solution patterns that support scalability, maintainability, and performance.
    • Guide solution design across domains such as cloud, data, integration, and security.
    • Partner with engineering teams to ensure solutions align with architectural direction.

    People Leadership & Collaboration

    • Lead a small team of enterprise and solution architects with a focus on strategic delivery.
    • Promote a culture of shared accountability, learning, and innovation.
    • Collaborate closely with delivery, infrastructure, and security teams to drive cohesive solutions.
    • Influence senior stakeholders and promote architectural best practices.

    Tools, Processes & Enablement

    • Promote DevOps practices, architectural automation, and CI/CD enablement.
    • Establish frameworks for architectural reviews and technology assessments.
    • Drive reusability of services and APIs to improve time-to-market and reduce duplication.

    Basic Requirements:

    • 12+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
    • Proven experience in enterprise and solution architecture across multiple domains (cloud, integration, data, security).
    • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
    • Experience architecting large-scale digital applications and enterprise platforms.
    • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development lifecycles.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience influencing executive stakeholders.
    • Experience working in the financial services industry, especially in broker-dealer operations, is a plus.
    • Fluent in Agile methodologies and enterprise delivery models (Scaled Agile preferred).
    • Experience using ADO, JIRA, and architecture modeling tools.
    • Effective at managing distributed teams and vendors
