Position is located at the AMP Headquarters building in Columbus, Ohio, but remote candidates within the AMP membership footprint will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the Columbus area. This job is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days working from home).

Position Title: Vice President, Transmission Compliance

Reports To: Executive Vice President, AMP Transmission

FLSA Status: Exempt

The Vice President, Transmission Compliance (Vice President) provides planning, execution, and oversight for transmission compliance activities for AMP Transmission, LLC (AMPT). The Vice President must have extensive experience with transmission activities and exhibit strong technical skills necessary to understand and apply applicable industry compliance standards. The Vice President will ensure compliance with all applicable standards of AMPT, PJM Interconnection LLC (PJM), Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. (MISO), ReliabilityFirst Corporation (RF), and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).

Essential Functions:
  • Manage compliance program activities related to reliability standards for AMPT-owned assets and assets in development.
  • Acts as chief compliance officer for AMPT.
  • Coordinate with AMPT Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Project Management to develop, implement, operate and maintain AMPT transmission assets.
  • Manage, coordinate and implement reliability compliance program activities for AMPT related to NERC, RF and other applicable agency compliance obligations.
  • Participate in NERC, RF and other applicable forums as appropriate. Establish and maintain good working relationships with key agency personnel.
  • Develop and/or manage compliance management information system(s).
  • Interpret compliance standards. Collaborate with subject matter experts. Implement standard practices and policies, as well as assist with proposing and implementing changes to existing policies and processes.
  • Oversee monitoring and documentation of reliability compliance activities for AMPT-owned assets and processes. Maintain up-to-date evidence demonstrating ongoing compliance. Manage special projects and outside consultants as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing submittals, forms and reports required for compliance obligations.
  • Work in close collaboration with Transmission Engineering, Operations, Planning, Project Management, Legal and other AMP departments and stakeholders to successfully accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Participate in project field/site walkdowns and attend meetings/conference calls as needed.
  • Direct and oversee staffing related to this function including internal and external resources.
  • Develop and maintain strong working business knowledge/acumen of applicable RTO rules/processes, as well as regional and local transmission systems.
  • Demonstrate self-sufficiency and support the AMPT team by demonstrating accountability, consistency, and cooperation with all departments and leading a culture of compliance.
  • Ensure all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the company and comply with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in electric utility industry is required. Minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in transmission compliance activities (as part of the 15-year experience requirement) is required.
  • Strongly prefer a four-year ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or other applicable engineering disciplines. Will consider other degrees if candidate brings exceptional proven experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable NERC Reliability Standards and Regional Reliability Organization (RRO) Reliability Standards.
  • Must possess excellent communication, presentation, diplomacy, active listening, and facilitation skills to effectively work in small and large group forums ranging from technical to non-technical audiences at all levels of the corporate hierarchy.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Position is located at the AMP Headquarters building in Columbus, Ohio. Preference will be given to candidates who currently live in the Columbus area or are willing to relocate. This job is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days working from home).
  • Candidates who are located remotely from Columbus, Ohio, but within the AMP membership footprint may be considered for this position. If the selected candidate is a remote candidate, they will be expected to travel to AMP Headquarters on a periodic basis and to project sites based on project needs.
