What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Client Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Client Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, expertise in budgeting and scheduling, and typically a degree in business, management, or a related field. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello, and certifications like PMP or PRINCE2, are often expected. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities help you effectively collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the client's satisfaction.

How does a Client Project Manager typically collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success?

A Client Project Manager regularly acts as the central point of contact between clients and various internal teams such as design, development, and operations. They facilitate clear communication by organizing meetings, providing project updates, and translating client needs into actionable tasks for internal stakeholders. Managing expectations, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring everyone is aligned with project goals are key challenges. Successful collaboration relies on strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate multiple moving parts while maintaining client satisfaction.

What are the 4 types of project managers?

The four main types of project managers are functional, projectized, matrix, and hybrid. Functional managers work within departments, projectized managers lead dedicated project teams, matrix managers balance both functional and project responsibilities, and hybrid combines elements of these approaches. Understanding these types helps client project managers adapt their leadership style to different organizational structures and project needs.

What is the difference between Client Project Manager vs Account Manager?

AspectClient Project ManagerAccount Manager

Understanding these distinctions helps organizations assign the right responsibilities and professionals to each role.

What is the highest paying project manager?

Senior project managers, especially those in industries like IT, engineering, or construction, tend to have the highest salaries. Project managers with advanced certifications such as PMP and extensive experience can earn significantly higher compensation, often exceeding $120,000 annually depending on the industry and location.

Can I make 100k as a project manager?

A Client Project Manager can potentially earn $100,000 or more annually, especially with experience, certifications like PMP, and managing large or complex projects. Salaries vary based on industry, location, company size, and individual skills, with senior or specialized project managers often reaching or exceeding this level.

Job description

Dental insurance is complex, even for providers. At Five Lakes Dental Practice Solutions, we take that burden off their plates.
Due to an internal promotion, we're hiring a Client Services Project Coordinator to serve as the link between clients and Account Managers, ensuring multi-phase projects stay on track. We'll provide full training for this role, so success is less about deep dental insurance knowledge and more about strong organization, follow-through, and keeping projects moving. You'll learn the industry details over time.
Account Managers own the client relationship, while the Project Manager drives execution. For services like insurance credentialing, PPO analysis, and contract negotiation, the PM becomes the day-to-day lead by managing timelines, coordinating resources, tracking progress, leading meetings, and ensuring accurate, on-time delivery. While the AM remains involved for strategy and escalations, the PM is the primary contact for active project work.
If you excel at keeping complex work moving and holding people accountable but don't see yourself as a "traditional" PM, this role could be a great fit.
This fully remote role is typically 40 hours per week, with flexibility between 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM EST to support multiple time zones.
What you'll do
As a Client Services Project Manager at Five Lakes, you'll be the go-to person keeping client projects moving and everyone aligned. You'll manage a portfolio of projects from kickoff through completion, partnering with clients and internal teams, maintaining timelines, solving problems, and improving both processes and the client experience.
Variety in your day will never be short but day-to-day you could expect the following:
  • Manage a portfolio of client projects from kickoff to completion including credentialing, PPO management and analysis, TIN changes, and contract negotiations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, providing bi-weekly (or weekly) project status updates and leading kickoff and milestone meetings
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Account Managers to ensure every project has what it needs to move forward (and speak up when it doesn't)
  • Track project activities, timelines, and deliverables in Zoho Projects
  • Communicate clearly and professionally via phone, email, and video with clients who range from office managers to executive leadership teams
  • Use Excel to organize data and support client-specific reporting needs
What you need to thrive in this role
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously, independently, and under shifting deadlines
  • Experience using project management or CRM software (Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Strong verbal communication skills and being comfortable leading client calls, having direct conversations, and keeping people accountable in a professional, relationship-first way
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Self-starter mindset- you own your work and your outcomes, and you don't wait to be told what to do
  • Adaptability- you're okay operating in environments where not every process is fully documented yet, and you see that as an opportunity rather than a problem
A Plus (But Not Required):
  • Background in healthcare, dental, insurance, or credentialing
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Communications, or a related field
