Job description

Via Credit Union is seeking an Executive Vice President (EVP) to serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the CEO, responsible for driving organizational performance, operational excellence, and long-term growth. This role provides enterprise-wide leadership while overseeing major business functions, including lending and other assigned divisions. The EVP drives lending strategy, product innovation, and operational excellence to support sustainable growth and the credit union's mission of improving members' financial well-being.
The EVP plays a pivotal role in shaping the credit union's future-ensuring strategic clarity, operational strength, and a lending program that drives growth while safeguarding financial stability. This leader helps the credit union deliver on its mission to improve members' financial well-being and strengthen the communities it serves.
ViaCU's scheduled work week is Tuesday - Saturday (noon), unless otherwise specified.

Essential Functions:
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute long-term organizational strategy.
    • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives that advance growth, innovation, digital transformation, and member value.
    • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decisions.
    • Serve as a visible, influential leader who champions the credit union's mission, values, and culture.
  • Financial & Risk Stewardship
    • Support lending programs, financial planning, budgeting, and performance management to ensure sustainable growth.
    • Collaborate with Lending, Finance, Risk, and Compliance teams to maintain strong governance and risk-management practices.
    • Evaluate business performance through KPIs, dashboards, and data-driven insights.
    • Oversee loan portfolio performance, credit quality, pricing, product development, and market expansion.
  • Risk Management & Compliance
    • Maintain strong credit culture and sound underwriting standards across all lending areas.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
    • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to strengthen governance, credit policy, and portfolio risk management.
    • Oversee loan review processes, stress testing, and risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Operational & Organizational Excellence
    • Lead and mentor leaders and teams to achieve high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Drive operational efficiency, process improvement, and service excellence across the organization.
    • Lead modernization of lending workflows, automation, and digital lending capabilities.
    • Ensure cross-departmental alignment to support seamless member experiences and organizational cohesion.
    • Lead enterprise-level projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Leadership & Talent Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders and managers to build a strong leadership pipeline.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Member & Community Engagement

Requirements & Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience:
  • 10-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in financial services, ideally within a credit union.
  • Demonstrated success managing diverse lending portfolios and leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk, financial performance, risk management and regulatory requirements.
