Job description

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, the SVP, Chief Operating Officer is directly responsible for the daily operations of respective departments and specified organizational initiatives. Responsibilities include the hospitals and facilities on the Westchester campus to include the med/surg hospital, Children’s hospital, Behavioral Health and Rehab facilities The SVP is involved in the development and implementation of WMCHealth’s Network objectives.  Works collaboratively with Finance, Nursing and Chief Medical Officer of the Westchester Region

Responsibilities: 

Operations

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Westchester Campus
  • Oversee the technological and physical plant departmental upgrades as it relates to respective departments, including but not limited to, vendor selection, contract negotiations, and physician engagement.
  • Assumes responsibility of Administrator on-call according to rotating schedule.
  • Responsible for the administrative direction of the operations and improving the financial viability of respective departments within the Westchester Region.
  • Coordinates program implementation with local Network leadership to ensure optimal resource utilization and achievement of performance targets.
  • Participates in special projects across all areas of operations.

Financial Performance

  • Responsible for the Westchester Region annual operating budget
  • In partnership with the Finance Department, supports the annual operating and capital budgeting process
  • Reviews and support in negotiations for capital purchases and ancillary service agreements.
  • Guides direct reports in the preparation of departmental budgets, forecasting, and planning process.

Strategy

  • Develops strategic business plans in collaboration with clinical leaders to meet Network and Westchester Region expansion needs, grow market-share, and support regional expansion efforts.
  • Works closely with Senior Leadership and Clinical Leadership in the successful recruitment of physicians and clinical providers for respective service lines.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and gains consensus for development of new or expansion of current inpatient and/or outpatient services, support services and non-clinical operations aimed at improving patient experience and operational efficiency.

Quality

  • Responsible for the establishment of department operational practices and policies, consistent with Network wide operation goals and objectives.
  • Continuously advances departmental operational effectiveness and efficiency through process redesign, continuous quality initiatives, benchmarking, productivity studies, and the introduction of new technologies.
  • Supports and oversees regulatory preparedness efforts for respective departments
  • Oversees the management and submission process for various institutional accreditation programs.
  • Works collaboratively with implementing and monitoring all quality initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: A minimum of ten years’ hospital administration experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration/finance required
