Various opportunities exist that include assignments licensing, designing, developing, improving, analyzing, and exposure to technical and regulatory concepts in hands-on, real-world situations. GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy is looking to add engineering/ science/ business students for an internship program starting in May 2027 to support licensing activities for the current BWR operating reactor fleet in the US.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic plans to implement the next wave of power uprates for the world-wide installed based of boiling water reactor nuclear plants.
  • Review, interpret, and implement, such in procedures and processes, new nuclear regulations and guidance.
  • Gain familiarity, and look for opportunities to improve, GVH’s nuclear licensing methodologies.
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
  • Pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Law, or a similar degree
  • 40 hours availability per week
  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro 3.0
  • GPA and higher

Location: Wilmington, NC

Employment Dates: May 2027-August 2027

The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
  • Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
  • GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
  • U.S. Internship roles are ineligible for GE Vernova benefits.
