What are Volunteer Computers?

Volunteer computers are personal computers or servers contributed by individuals or organizations to help with distributed computing projects, typically for scientific research or humanitarian purposes. These computers run specialized software that allows them to process data during idle times, contributing their computing power to large-scale projects like SETI@home or Folding@home. Volunteers can participate from anywhere in the world, and their contributions collectively solve problems faster than single supercomputers.
