Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a CAD Technician to join our team in St. Louis. The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company's good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
  • Develop and revise detailed 2D/3D transportation drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or MicroStation/OpenRoads if applicable).
  • Draft roadway geometric layouts, grading, cross sections, plan and profile sheets, and traffic control/staging plans.
  • Prepare striping, signage, pavement markings, and utility coordination plans.
  • Incorporate redlines and design changes from engineers and project managers.
  • Maintain organized drawing sets and ensure all work follows project CAD standards.
  • Assist in preparing exhibits, corridor maps, and presentation graphics for project meetings.
  • Support quantity measurements and basic calculations related to transportation design elements.

What you'll need
  • Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of drafting experience preferred, ideally within transportation or civil engineering disciplines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads is a plus.
  • Understanding of transportation plan preparation, geometric design concepts, and DOT standards is highly beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly interpret engineering sketches and markups.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
