Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Firmware/Hardware Engineer to support the development, analysis, and enhancement of embedded systems and low-level software across a variety of platforms. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software, focusing on firmware development, reverse engineering, and system-level problem solving.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy working close to the hardware, breaking down complex systems, and uncovering how things operate at a fundamental level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, modify, and debug firmware for embedded systems across diverse hardware architectures
  • Perform reverse engineering of binaries, firmware, and hardware-integrated software components
  • Analyze system behavior at the hardware/firmware interface to identify vulnerabilities or performance improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement low-level solutions
  • Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of firmware in real-world environments
  • Document findings, methodologies, and technical implementations

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in C programming, particularly in embedded or low-level environments
  • Experience performing reverse engineering across multiple architectures (e.g., ARM, x86, MIPS)
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory management, and hardware/software interaction
  • Experience working in Linux or Unix-based environments
  • Ability to debug and analyze systems at a low level
Desired Skills
  • Experience with vulnerability research or identifying security weaknesses in firmware or embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience analyzing or developing firmware
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering tools such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or similar
  • Experience with embedded debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, UART, logic analyzers)
  • Understanding of common firmware formats, bootloaders, and device communication protocols
  • Exposure to secure coding practices and exploit mitigation techniques
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with embedded devices, IoT systems, or custom hardware platforms
  • Familiarity with assembly languages and low-level debugging
  • Background in cybersecurity, embedded security, or hardware security
  • Experience integrating firmware with hardware components in production or lab environments
