Job description

Company information:
www.volumod.com
Volumod (Vol-U-mod) is a multi-family modular construction company located on the Far East Side of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Volumod's team of more than 100 skilled professionals builds apartment buildings and other multi-family housing in sections - called modules - within a heated-and-cooled facility. On the factory floor, each home moves through 20 different stations, including framing, electrical, plumbing, flooring, drywall, siding, roofing, and interior finish, with kitchens and bathrooms installed, to produce a home that is 90% complete!
The modules are then wrapped, transported by semi-truck, and lifted with a crane to form multifamily communities. Modular construction improves speed, consistency, quality, and efficiency compared with traditional, onsite construction, bringing value to our clients.
At Volumod, we're not just delivering a better product to our clients, we're helping transform lives by creating beautiful, affordable housing - sacred spaces where people live and are proud to call home. We're also passionate about seeing lives transformed within the Volumod organization as our employees improve their lives with a great job and whole-person support that helps them thrive in every area. We offer living wages, major medical coverage, 401K contributions, and a culture of hope. Will you join us?
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Prepare new or update existing design drawings for various projects using software such as AutoCAD per the Director of Engineering, Design Manager, Production Manager, and/or Client direction.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the design requirements with the design and production managers to update drawings as required.
  • Maintain project drawings as needed, with requisite updates and annotations across all the phases of the projects.
  • Responsible for managing and revising all project drawing deliverables.
  • Maintain and improve the company CAD designs and help in creating standard construction assemblies.
  • Train on and apply various structural design standards as they pertain to the projects at hand.
  • Continue to learn industry standards for CAD Designs and apply them to design drawings.
  • Coordinate with project teams to achieve the committed deliverables and timelines.
  • Develop and deliver designs in line with the construction guideline standards: creative, clear, accurate, understandable and legible.
  • Maintain the administrative aspects of data storage and file structure.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation for easy reference.
  • Ensure drawings adhere to industry standards and project specifications.
  • Successfully create production drawings (construction drawings) by transferring information from design drawings. Visualizing construction assemblies in 3-dimensions is essential.
  • Check constructability of the architect's design while creating production drawings.
  • Detect and resolve clashes between various building systems (such as structural, MEP, Finishes).
  • Work closely with plant supervisors and production managers to collect operational feedback and optimize product designs for manufacturing and cost related efficiency (value engineering).
