The Accounting Manager oversees and manages the daily operations of the property accounting department. Supervise accountants to ensure regulatory compliance and improve policies and procedures for efficiency and accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting operations including month and year-end process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, budgeting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity and debt activity.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Meet financial accounting objectives.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Other projects and duties and assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Property Accounting experience.
  • Proven management experience leading a team of Accountants.
  • Proficiency in Yardi.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and accounting software/databases.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
