Job description

Venture Tech Solutions is seeking a Property Accountant to work closely with our Controller CFO to help manage our real estate portfolio.
The Property Accountant position is located in our corporate office in Plantation, FL. This an in-office position.


Real Estate Controller/Property Accountant Duties


  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and compliance with company policies.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations regularly to maintain data integrity.
  • Perform financial analysis and cash flow analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  •  Securities law compliance, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices.
  • Mentor junior and other accountants by providing guidance on accounting software (such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero), double-entry bookkeeping, and best practices in financial report writing.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and ensure accurate tax filings based on tax experience.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives by leveraging expertise in financial concepts like accrual accounting, account analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.


Real Estate Controller/Property Accountant Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 5-10 year’s accounting experience
  • CPA preferred (or in the process)
  • Great Plains/Dynamics 365 Business Central a plus, if not similar accounting package
  • Yardi real estate software experience required
  • Excellent PC skills including Intermediate Excel skills
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Must have excellent communications skills to interact with multiple levels of staff and management
  • Must have ability to multi-task and handle high volume of varied responsibilities, accurately and professionally
  • Must be very accurate and detail oriented
