Job description

Position Summary
Vision IT is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support VoIP, Cable TV, Digital Media Suite, and Geographically Separated Units (GSUs) operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise communications and multimedia network infrastructure within a secure DoD environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in voice communications, network engineering, digital media systems, and telecommunications infrastructure while supporting mission-critical operations onsite at LAAFB.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Cable TV distribution systems, Digital Media Suites, and multimedia broadcasting infrastructure
  • Video distribution from multiple external sources onto the internal cable TV network.
  • Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot VoIP and enterprise communications systems
  • Support Cable TV distribution systems, Digital Media Suites, and multimedia broadcasting infrastructure
  • Maintain network connectivity and support for Geographically Separated Units (GSUs)
  • Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, and voice gateways
  • Support SIP, VLANs, multicast, IPTV, and unified communications technologies
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, STIGs, and secure network practices
  • Collaborate with systems administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and mission stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Troubleshoot complex network, telecommunications, and multimedia system issues
Required Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be current and maintainable)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (or DoD 8570/8140 compliant equivalent)
  • 5-10 years of experience supporting enterprise network and telecommunications systems
  • Experience supporting VoIP systems, voice gateways, and unified communications platforms
  • Knowledge of Cable TV systems, IPTV, digital media distribution, or multimedia support environments
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and QoS
  • Experience with Cisco network and voice technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and communication issues
  • Ability to work onsite full-time at LAAFB
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or Collaboration certifications
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government communications infrastructure
  • Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance and RMF requirements
  • Experience supporting geographically separated communications environments
  • Knowledge of audiovisual integration and multimedia streaming technologies
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
