Job summary:
As an Individual contributor, the Solutions Architect collaborates and partners with a diverse cross-section of IT and Engineering stakeholders supporting Wireline B/OSS projects, architecting, and designing solutions that help deliver critical telecom capabilities. The architect will be responsible for providing technical leadership, guidance, and support in formulating strategic technology approaches and systems architectures that support the strategy and goals of the organization. This position is responsible for designing reusable technical assets and standards to support solution development and consulting with project owners on how to leverage these assets and standards best. This role will also support ongoing release management support for the project managers, support technical reviews for incoming requirements, and provide architectural authority in times of ambiguity. Keeps current with trends and technological innovations in the Wireline industry and makes appropriate development recommendations.
Major duties and responsibilities:
• Provides subject matter expertise for an assigned technology domain.
• Contributes to the execution of proof-of-concept for new approaches and platforms.
• Interface with technology and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, define, and document software architecture requirements to improve solutions in Cable Industry.
• Analyze business processes and procedures of clients and provide recommendations to develop reliable and flexible software architectures.
• Provide technical direction and solutions to architectural, development, and operational teams on assigned projects to small teams.
• Lead architect teams to formulate and review new software/hardware platforms.
• Create functional, operational, and interface architecture models and use human-system interfaces to develop suitable architectures supporting ease of usability using a variety of tools and technologies: C, C++, Java, and Python programming languages.
• Create a framework to proactively monitor and identify potential issues with mission-critical platforms and applications.
• Define develop, and influence technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices.
• Recommend action plans and solutions to management, architects, and product managers.
• Participate in technical design reviews, functional specification reviews, and peer reviews.
• Coordinate closely with the engineering team to ensure thorough development and testing on relevant platforms as appropriate for the task/project.
• Provide technical assistance to development and operations personnel on new and existing system projects.
• Collaborates with business and technical teams to review conflicts/gaps between functional goals and existing capabilities.
• Provides written documentation for business and technical teams of those discussions and conclusions.
• Adhere to best practices for code development, API design, version control, test automation and build automation.
SKILLS /ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
• Strong experience as an architect with -
o Cable HFC systems and understand the cable modem initialization process.
o DHCP servers and familiar with both RFC2131 (DHCPv4) and RFC 8415 (DHCPv6).
o Cisco CNR DHCP servers must be able to understand the different configurable objects within this application.
o Cisco CNR extensions are written in C or C++.
o CableLabs PCMM specifications and related implementation.
o TR-069/CWMP protocol a.k.a ACS for configuring CPE devices
o CommScope ACS products are preferred.
• Hands-on experience with modern software development technologies and frameworks, including cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, and containerization.
• Must have a strong understanding of backend databases like MySQL, Postgres, and Redis.
• Experience with -
o Cable back office provisioning systems and how a cable modem is onboarded into the MSO network.
o Cisco Prime Cable Provisioning product.
o Operational skills in troubleshooting cable modem DHCP and TFTP process (should have some familiarity with the CMTS CLI).
o Micro-services architecture with emphasis on-prem cloud using VMWare and Rancher-based Kubernetes application.
• Able to adapt to an agile and fast-paced environment.
• Experience developing new functionality within applications as well as customization to meet Wireline business requirements.
• Experience building and implementing model-driven, enterprise-level business solutions.
• Knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation
Required qualification:
• Minimum 10+ years of IT experience designing and integrating telecom OSS solutions related to Telecom CRM, Order Management, Orchestration, Network Provisioning, and Activation
• Experience with the following TM Forum industry standards: eTOM, TAM & SID models.
• Highly skillful in B/OSS system architecture, designs, specifications, system testing, and system user training and adoption in carrier Cable service provisioning, design, and configuration.
• Expertise in analyzing Business and Development Specifications, Use Cases, and Detail Design to develop requirement gathering, analyzing the business process, conducting Feasibility studies, Document generation, and conducting sessions.
• Inquisitive nature and eagerness to explore new concepts and approach
• Full Lifecycle Wireline System experience associated with integrations to legacy Wireline systems.
• Understanding of end-to-end network architecture in heterogeneous access networks (Wi-Fi, Voice, Internet, and Video)
• Experience working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and can multi-task.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software development and delivery (cloud computing, containerization, high availability, integration Cable activation components.
Related work experience:
• 10+ years of technical experience in software engineering and architecture for the telecom domain
• 5 -7 years of experience in the Product Development Process
• 7+ years of experience in related Cable industry experience
• 5 -7 years of experience in Product Management and/or Software Development Experience Required, preferably Telecommunications.
Education qualification:
