Position Summary
The Visual Marketing Designer is responsible for designing and executing visual content across many channels and media, including the company website, social media, online and offline design, assets, virtual events, trade shows, videos and paid advertising to support sales and marketing efforts. As a member of the Marketing team, this position contributes to the establishing and fortifying of Nth's brand identity and reputation in the industry, as well as fosters growth of Nth's customer base to promote long term stability, client dedication, and profitability.
This position may require work at different times of the day, including nights and weekends, as needed and without prior notice. All duties should be performed while always maintaining the Nth Corporate Culture (see Appendix A). This is a non-exempt/hourly position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Designs and executes visual content across many channels and media, including digital, print, packaging, and tradeshow mediums, such as:
    • email, blog, and social media campaigns
    • website layout and design
    • advertisements
    • branded swag
    • wayfinding
    • blogging and social media design
    • tradeshow booth design
    • large and small scale promotional materials
  • Delivers cross-departmental graphic design needs by working alongside the Marketing Coordinator, Chief Technology Officer, Event Coordinators, Account Managers, and/or additional Nth team members to produce branded content that drives production, such as:
    • PowerPoint presentations
    • Pictorial company directory and org charts, alongside HR
    • Photo and/or video editing, as needed
  • Co-brands with numerous technology partner manufacturers.
  • Performs videography editing through Adobe programs.

AI-Enabled Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director to serve as an internal resource on AI-assisted design best practices.
  • Evaluates current and emerging AI design tools and workflow technologies to identify practical applications for the marketing team.
  • Uses approved generative AI tools to manage and accelerate workflow, design concepting, delivery, and scalability.
  • Reviews AI-generated creative for brand accuracy, visual consistency, quality, and appropriateness before use.
  • Reviews and validates AI-assisted content for accuracy, relevance, and brand suitability before use.
  • Works with the Marketing Coordinator to use AI-powered analytics to evaluate campaign performance and recommend creative enhancements.
  • Maintains the digital asset library, including AI transparency, tagging, and asset tracking.
  • Participates in ongoing education on AI tools, industry trends, intellectual property considerations, and responsible AI practices.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assists with maintaining swag inventory and tracking.
  • Works in tandem with the Marketing Coordinator or Senior Director, Creative and Marketing and/or additional Nth team members to push campaigns via MailChimp or social media, as needed.
  • Flexible with demands on time and able to deal with frequent and last-minute scheduling changes.
  • Able to work during Nth Generation's core hours of operation, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is flexible to work earlier and/or work later, if there are last minute requirements to perform tasks.
  • Meets with teams at either the San Diego or Irvine offices to perform inventory checks, attend in-person meetings, or more.
  • As business and operational demands dictate, additional duties may be assigned and expected to be performed.

Education and / or Experience
Typically requires:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years' relevant work-related experience in a Visual Marketing Designer role, with interest or experience in the Information Technology industry.
  • Proven, robust portfolio illustrating your design process and examples.
  • Relevant experience creating design for web, mobile, and print.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and experience with digital marketing techniques, tools and procedures.
  • Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Premier, and Photoshop).
  • Working knowledge of typography and copy.
  • Proficient in website interfaces (such as Wix or similar) and social media design.
  • Proficient in the printing process and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of UI/UX fundamentals.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, business partners, and teammates.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative, positive, patient, enthusiastic and customer-focused approach while working effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities with grace and efficiency, balances long-term projects with urgent requests, and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Adapts successfully and quickly in an ever-changing department (Marketing) and industry (Technology).
  • Methodically organized, detail-oriented, and able to solve problems effectively while maintaining composure under pressure.

AI Competencies
  • Proficient with administrative and task-management tools empowered by LLM's, such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.
  • Proficient with AI empowered capabilities within creative and marketing platforms, such as Adobe Firefly, Mailchimp, Wix, or similar technologies.
  • Proficient with AI video generation and editing platforms, such as Runway, Pika, Sora, or CapCut AI features.
  • Experience leveraging AI for design concepts, copywriting, image creation, research, and reporting. Ability to refine and research AI prompt improvement.
  • Skilled in AI-assisted image editing, including background removal, image expansion, object removal, retouching, resizing, and creative variations.
  • Ability to prompt for visual direction, including layouts, campaign concepts, image styles, and brand-aligned creative exploration.
  • Understands ethical, legal, copyright, and data privacy considerations related to AI-generated content, including appropriate use of company, customer, employee, and partner information.
  • Maintains ongoing proficiency with emerging AI tools and technologies through continuous learning and adaptation.
