Reynolds Community College is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia, serving the state's capital city and five surrounding counties. Across four campus locations, Reynolds serves approximately 13,000 credit students annually and provides workforce training to more than 7,400 individuals through the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA). The Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA) is a regional workforce development partnership between Reynolds and Brightpoint Community Colleges. CCWA delivers world-class workforce training, consulting, and coaching services to public- and private-sector organizations throughout the Greater Richmond region. Serving more than 700 businesses and approximately 12,000 participants annually, CCWA leverages industry-experienced facilitators and subject-matter experts to support economic development and organizational growth.
Position Summary
CCWA is seeking adjunct instructors to support customized training, consulting, and coaching programs for regional businesses and organizations. Adjunct instructors deliver engaging, high-quality instruction to adult learners while supporting client objectives and workforce development outcomes. This role requires flexibility, strong facilitation skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal staff and external partners.
Courses may be offered day, evening, or weekend, and may take place at various client or CCWA locations, as well as virtually.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Facilitation
  • Deliver effective didactic and skills-based instruction for adult learners in both in-person and virtual environments
  • Create inclusive, positive, and safe learning environments that promote engagement and success
  • Serve as a professional role model and advocate for participant success

Program Development & Design
  • Collaborate with CCWA staff and clients to develop customized training programs and materials, including presentations, manuals, and e-learning content
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify client challenges and design targeted training solutions

  • Prepare reports documenting outcomes, progress, and recommendations for improvement

Client & Team Collaboration
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and partners, responding promptly to inquiries
  • Provide expert guidance on training and workforce development solutions
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment

Professional Development & Compliance
  • Participate in required onboarding, partner requirements, and professional development activities
  • Maintain professional competence, certifications, and licensure as applicable
  • Ensure compliance with CCWA and college policies and procedures
  • Report incidents as required

Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to ensure relevant, high-quality training delivery

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, workforce development practices, and training topics such as leadership, customer service, change management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience in facilitating engaging, learner-centered instruction in in-person, virtual, and blended environments for diverse adult audiences.
  • Experience in designing, customizing, and evaluating training programs based on client needs assessments and learning outcomes.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, partners, faculty, and staff, and to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments independently, maintain accurate documentation, and work flexible schedules at various locations while adhering to policies and professional standards.
