Job description

You are applying for a position through Medix, a staffing agency. The actual posting represents a position at one of our clients.
Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Coder to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient surgical procedures across multiple specialties. This position involves performing coding audits, providing virtual coding education, and ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately assign codes for outpatient surgical procedures.
  • Perform coding audits to identify missed revenue and compliance risks.
  • Provide virtual coding education to physicians and practice managers.
  • Review clinical documentation and payer policies for reimbursement.
  • Conduct research on coding and billing issues and recommend improvements.
  • Develop educational materials for providers and junior coders.
  • Stay current with coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Collaborate with physicians to resolve coding-related discrepancies.
  • Support department restructuring and assist in onboarding new coders.

Qualifications
  • EPIC experience.
  • 2-5 years of PB coding experience, ideally in gastroenterology or general surgery.
  • At least 1 year of experience with GI surgeries.
  • Proficient in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding.
  • CPC, COC, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • MUST HAVE PB EXPERIENCE not just outpatient.

Experience
  • 2-5 years in PB coding experience, ideally in gastroenterology or general surgery.
  • At least 1 year of experience with GI surgeries.

Skills
  • Proficient in Epic software.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop educational materials and mentor junior staff.

Additional Requirements
This is a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. Initial training requires 2 weeks of working from 8am-4:30pm.

Eligibility for health benefits is based on verifying that an average of 30 hours per week during the first 4 weeks of the work assignment has been met. If you meet eligibility requirements and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s)).
  • 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, and 10/1).
