Location Requirements:

  • You must reside in one of the following states: MN, SD, IA, FL, MO, WI, MO or AR.

Position Summary:

The Virtual Branch Sales Manager is responsible for both personal mortgage production and the leadership, development, and performance of a team of Virtual Branch Mortgage Loan Originators.

This position originates residential mortgage loans, drives sales growth, recruits and develops talent, establishes performance expectations, and coaches team members to maximize production, customer experience, compliance, and profitability.


The Virtual Branch Sales Manager serves as the culture leader for the Virtual Branch team and is responsible for helping team members achieve their personal and professional goals while supporting the strategic growth objectives of Heritage Bank.


Core Responsibilities:


Production Leadership:

  • Personally originate mortgage loan applications including conventional, government, construction, and home equity products.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and personal production goals.
  • Conduct financial analysis and guide customers through the mortgage process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Realtors, builders, financial advisors, and other referral sources.
  • Work assigned online and digital lead opportunities.


Team Leadership & Coaching

  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop Virtual Branch Mortgage Loan Originators.
  • Establish production goals, activity expectations, and performance standards.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions focused on sales performance, pipeline management, lead conversion, and professional development.
  • Review team production metrics and implement strategies to improve effectiveness and profitability.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and results-oriented sales culture.
  • Share best practices and sales techniques that improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist team members in developing referral relationships and business development strategies.


Sales Management:

  • Monitor branch production, lead conversion, pull-through rates, and overall team performance.
  • Ensure effective distribution and management of digital leads.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, Secondary Market, and Credit teams to optimize production results.
  • Drive execution of sales campaigns and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and customer experience.


Customer Experience:

  • Ensure team members consistently deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Promote cross-selling and referrals to other areas of Heritage Bank.
  • Resolve customer concerns and support team members in complex situations.
  • Champion Heritage Bank's commitment to relationship banking.


Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of all real estate products, underwriting procedures and the mortgage lending industry.
  • Responsible for compliance with laws and regulations applicable to this position.
  • Assists retail lending department in all aspects of retail lending by referring clients or completing transactions.
  • Responsible for security as it applies to this position.
  • Participates in all required BSA training and demonstrates knowledge of BSA relative to job responsibilities.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Meet all NMLS licensing requirements for Mortgage Loan Originators.
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage lending experience with a demonstrated history of successful production.
  • Previous mortgage sales leadership, coaching, or team development experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing sales professionals.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage sales metrics, lead conversion strategies, and pipeline management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with mortgage technology platforms, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
