Environmental Project Coordinator Position

The Edmonton based Project Coordinator position is an opportunity to join a growing team of professionals who are passionate about the SYLVIS mission to Make Waste History through sustainable residuals management. The focus of the Project Coordinator role is to ensure the smooth, productive implementation of our operational and consulting projects. You will be responsible for all aspects of project coordination and will participate directly in field activities as well as office-based duties. You are someone who enjoys time in the field (no matter the weather) and will travel to project sites throughout Alberta. If you are passionate about sustainability, love to be in the field, and value continuous improvement, you'll fit right in.


Functions and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Project planning and implementation at operational projects in Alberta
  • Supervising deliveries and application of biosolids and other residuals to field sites
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and hands on environmental fieldwork, including site visits, sampling, and data collection
  • Scheduling and supervision of professional / operational contractors and internal resources
  • Support project documentation, including reports, proposals, and safety documents
  • Project status reporting to the Project Manager
  • Data tracking, data entry, and report preparation
  • Spatial data management and map generation in ArcGIS, Google Earth, or other mapping software
  • Communicate with client representatives and interested parties
  • Light field equipment operation such as pressure washers and gas/electric powered hand tools
  • Cleaning and maintaining sampling and field equipment
  • Mobilizing light field equipment to operational sites with a truck and trailer
  • Perform various administrative tasks to support project teams and ensure project success


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, plant science, soil science, agriculture, or a related discipline
  • Valid Canadian drivers license


Skills and Experience

  • 2 - 3 years of experience in environmental monitoring, data management, supervision of heavy equipment contractors, and project coordination
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willing to travel and work for periods of time at operational sites throughout Alberta and other provinces
  • Comfortable working outdoors in adverse weather conditions
  • Physically fit and able to complete repetitive tasks such as soil sampling
  • Experience driving in off-road conditions
  • Experience with trailering is an asset
  • Experience in consulting or customer service is an asset
  • Experience working in agriculture or mine reclamation is an asset
