ASSA ABLOY Group is the global leader in access solutions. Our offering covers product and services related to openings, such as locks, doors, gates, and entrance automation solutions. The Americas division is responsible for North and South America with over $4.5 billion in revenues and employs approximately 17,000.  The corporate finance team in New Haven, CT is recruiting a Controller to report to the CFO of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions, Americas. 

The Controller will manage the accounting functions under the general direction of the CFO and work as required with senior management of each of the three operating segments of the business. This position will establish and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures, provide oversight and coordination of operating reports and statutory filings, and establish and maintain financial controls. Additionally, the Controller will assist in setting the strategic direction for the accounting department and aligning department goals to help achieve objectives.   

This is an onsite role based full-time in New Haven, CT.

What you will be doing

  • Assist in driving financial results of the business to optimize business performance. Serves as a trusted business partner who takes a stand on issues and enables wise decision.
  • Maintains effective internal control of business to ensure continued control and protection of assets and an accurate reporting of its financial position.
  • Take a direct role and oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the organization. Self-perform many critical tasks.
  • Maintain a documented systems of accounting policies and procedures; maintain accounting, tax and corporate files.
  • Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements, format standard monthly and quarterly financial reports and statements.
  • Preparation of the annual budgeting report, providing a system of management cost reports.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing, decision and contract negotiations.
  • Manage the monthly closing processes including inventory, sales reconciliations, payroll summaries, account analysis, preparation and adjustment of journal entries.
  • Manage production of the budgets and forecasts and operating metrics.
  • Participate in special projects, including acquisition opportunities and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Additional responsibilities as required by the Americas CFO.

What we are looking for

  • BS in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA highly desired.
  • Must have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large, global corporation.
  • Experience in a multi-site, manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and financial statement presentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work and manage in a matrix organization.
  • Understanding of the principles of product introduction.
  • Familiar with a variety of field and industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Collaborative working style, capable of working in multicultural teams.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented.
  • Good organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • A self-starter with customer service skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of company personnel.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
