Job description

Construction Controller | $120K–$150K

Hartford CT area

A well-established commercial construction contractor is looking for an experienced Construction Controller to take ownership of its accounting and finance function.

This is an opportunity to step into a key financial leadership position with a company generating approximately $9M–$15M annually and employing roughly 40 people.

The company's longtime Controller is leaving after 16 years, but will remain available during a transition period to help the incoming Controller get fully acclimated to the business.

What You'll Own
  • Monthly financial reporting and close

  • WIP schedules and revenue recognition

  • Job costing and project profitability

  • Cash-flow forecasting

  • Budgeting and financial planning

  • AP/AR oversight

  • Banking relationships

  • Internal controls and accounting processes

  • Coordination with outside CPA firms

  • Financial reporting and analysis for ownership and project management

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate is currently a Controller or Assistant Controller within construction and has experience independently managing a company's accounting and finance function.

Key experience includes:

  • Construction accounting

  • WIP reporting

  • Job costing

  • Cash-flow forecasting

  • Budgeting

  • Construction financial reporting

  • ERP/accounting systems

  • Working directly with ownership

Experience with a commercial subcontractor or specialty contractor is highly preferred.
