Duties and Accountabilities

This ETC will perform a combination of course delivery, client advisory/learning coordination, and instructional design for Writing and Presentation Skills in the HR Communication and Business Skills (CBS) Program. The ETC will also participate in unit initiatives and projects in alignment with HR and the CBS Program objectives. The approximate time allocation will be as follows:

40% Direct course delivery (Writing and Presentation Skills)

40% Program coordination and client advisory

20% Unit initiatives and projects

Course Delivery

Deliver Writing and Presentation Skills offerings for WBG staff, including open-enrollment and intact team engagements, in both virtual and face-to-face modalities.

Facilitate highly practical, application-focused sessions grounded in adult learning principles and WBG-relevant scenarios.

Integrate responsible use of WBG AI tools (e.g., Copilot, mAI) to support writing workflows (e.g., outlining, drafting, revising, adapting to audience), following Bank guidance on confidentiality and responsible AI.

Prepare participants through pre-work and practice activities; provide targeted feedback on writing and presentation deliverables to reinforce transfer of learning.

Enforce program guidelines for attendance and participation; submit required attendance reports.

Meet or exceed Level 1 evaluation thresholds (6.0/7.0 average or higher) for delivery quality and address feedback for continuous improvement.

Course Design and Redesign

Maintain and update program assets, including lesson plans, instructor resource libraries, and participant materials. Ensure materials remain current, accessible, and aligned with WBG practices.

Collaborate with program colleagues to align design updates with delivery realities and evolving client needs.

Ensure course designs for writing and presentation skills remain consistent with responsible AI guidance.

Program Coordination and Client Advisory

Coordinate communication learning for intact teams, advising clients on suitable courses and approaches for developing writing and presentation skills.

Review evaluation reports for writing and presentation skills courses, assessing trends and flagging areas of concern for the program lead.

Capture lessons learned from delivery and client engagements; share insights and best practices to strengthen consistency and quality of the program.

Contribute to program unity, coordinating aspects of communication skill learning with other skill areas in the HR CBS program. This includes, for example, contributing to promotional and reporting materials.

Contribute to knowledge management exchanges; for example, promoting practical, responsible integration of AI-enabled writing support and adapting to other staff learning needs.

Produce internal tips or short guidance notes (as needed) on effective writing and presentation practices in WBG contexts.

Administration

Coordinate scheduling, registration, and delivery logistics in close coordination with the team assistant and other program staff. This includes, for example, ensuring accurate session setup, participant communications, attendance tracking, and post-session follow-up.

Maintain required presence in the Washington, DC duty station (minimum four in-office days per week) and adhere to agreed work schedules.

Comply with WBG contract agreements, applicable manuals, and internal policies governing ETC appointments.

Special Assignments

Contribute to program projects, such as targeted materials refreshes, internal communications, process documentation, and other initiatives supporting program goals and client needs.

Contribute to unit initiatives, as requested, such as Career & Learning Week or other learning events.

Skills Required

Communication Expertise

Superior writing skills and ability to diagnose writing problems in complex documents, as well as knowledge of the WBG context for writing. Requires 15+ years of experience with professional writing and teaching, including following rubrics for participant feedback.

Strong presentation skills and the ability to offer feedback to staff on strengthening their delivery skills and their messaging, especially for complex, technical presentations.

Pedagogy

Strong grounding in adult learning and evidence-based instructional practices; ability to design and facilitate practice-rich learning aligned to on-the-job applications.

Training Delivery and Facilitation

Expertise in teaching communication skills to professional audiences; ability to contextualize for WBG operational realities.

Excellent platform and facilitation skills with the confidence to lead all staff levels in skills development.

Proficiency in face-to-face and virtual facilitation techniques that drive engagement, feedback, and application.

Skills in guiding diverse groups, encouraging participation, and managing time, activities, and feedback to achieve learning outcomes.
