Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a compact or NC RN license.

Details
  • 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center hospital
  • Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (Flu/Pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Unit uses virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras to assist with med verification, monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks
  • Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus telemetry monitoring techs
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division: CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed and within scope of practice
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care for a busy Med/Surg Telemetry population using both traditional and virtual nursing support
  • 2-day departmental orientation in addition to standard new employee orientation
  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 RTO days may be approved (excluding holidays); unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available on site
  • Unit culture described as collaborative, patient-centered, and supportive
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before being eligible
