Job description

Video Editor โ€” Sports & Hobby Content
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL | Full-Time | In-Person | Mondayโ€“Friday

Backyard Breaks is hiring a Video Editor to shape the short-form content that brings the energy, personality, and excitement of the sports card and collectibles world to life. In this role, you'll be the person turning raw footage into the scroll-stopping content our audience loves, cutting big pulls, athlete moments, behind-the-scenes stories, and brand campaigns into the kind of content that travels. Your edits fuel our social channels, brand storytelling, and the deeper connection our audience has with the hobby.

This is a hands-on craft role for someone who lives in the timeline, understands what makes sports and hobby content go viral, and can turn raw footage into a fifteen-second hook that lands.

What You'll Do

  • Edit short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, including promotional pieces, event recaps, and branded campaigns
  • Cut footage with a sharp eye for pacing, hook-first composition, and platform-specific performance
  • Optimize content for vertical framing, captions, sound design, and platform specs
  • Apply motion graphics, text animation, transitions, and visual effects to elevate every cut
  • Color correct and audio mix to a high standard before delivery
  • Organize, label, and manage media files and project assets using clean, consistent workflows
  • Collaborate with our marketing team, streamers, and on-air talent to align edits with brand voice and content goals
  • Monitor content performance and apply insights to sharpen future edits
  • Step in to support shooting and on-camera capture when the team needs an extra set of hands
  • Contribute ideas in brainstorms, including hooks, angles, series concepts, and visual treatments
  • Stay ahead of trends in sports culture, the hobby, and short-form content to keep Backyard Breaks at the front of the conversation

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of professional video editing experience
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (Photoshop and Illustrator a plus)
  • Proven ability to edit short-form, scroll-stopping content tailored to TikTok, Reels, and Shorts
  • Sharp instincts for pacing, hook construction, and what makes content perform on each platform
  • Strong eye for color, sound design, and visual polish
  • Comfortable working with both structured/planned footage and fast-moving, unscripted material
  • Strong storytelling instincts that capture the emotional connection between fans and the hobby
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage your own edit queue and deliverables
  • Working knowledge of camera fundamentals and comfortable supporting shoots when needed

Bonus Points If You

  • Follow the sports card hobby, breaking scene, or sports culture in general
  • Have edited content for live events, sports, or high-energy environments
  • Have edited content that's gone viral or worked with creators/brands that have
  • Have motion graphics or animation experience beyond the basics
  • Bring shooting experience and can comfortably operate cameras (Sony mirrorless a plus), gimbals, or lighting/audio gear

What You'll Get

  • Compensation: $55,000 per year based on experience, with room to grow
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Employer-sponsored coverage at a subsidized rate

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at an editing station for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (camera bags, lighting kits, grip gear) when supporting shoots
  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate handheld equipment for extended periods on shoot days
  • Comfortable working in an active warehouse/studio environment
  • Ability to travel occasionally for shoots, events, and on-location work

Who We Are
