Job description

Position Summary:

Technical Specialist for assembly areas in the General Assembly Department of an automotive manufacturing environment. Job requirements include preparation of process documents, equipment install/modification before new vehicle launch, monitoring and analyzing current production process, and making improvements in 4M during non-launching time period.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as technical expert of assigned area during vehicle launches.
  • Coordinate and lead project activities, including new equipment installation, supplier selection, and implementation phases. - Prepare specification package after reviewing requirement (Quality, Safety, UPH, Layout, Ergonomics etc.).
  • Communicate with Advanced Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering Team in Korea and other relevant teams in R&D from Korea/USA for successful launch. - Host video conferences on new vehicle design improvements and follow-up status meetings.
  • Responsible for preparation of the assembly Process Sheets considering method and line condition with detailed picture and text. - Work content to be explained through a picture drawn in the workers' position according to work content, work order, and work status. - Responsible for recording the tightening torque from the install drawing after checking the bolt and nut quality from the standard part size. Utilize standard torque chart if install drawing is not available. - Determine the man-hours based on MODAPTS and optimize allocation.
  • Analyze and continuously improve performance of assigned area (safety, quality, production, cost, and human factors).
  • Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and other problem solving teams, as directed by management.
  • Serve as technical expert for Team Members, Team Leaders, including technical training, as required.
  • Support daily production issues as required.
  • Continually review technical developments in area of responsibility and propose new technology projects as appropriate.
  • Prepare presentations/reports on current projects, progress, and issues to management.
  • Understand and control labor allocation.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Team Member may be required to handle hazardous wastes which may include identifying, inspecting, packaging, labelling, and moving waste in compliance with RCRA regulations. Relevant training will be provided if assigned these job duties.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent preferred

Related Experience:
  • 0 - 10 years job related experience in an engineering/industrial environment preferred
  • Experience in automotive machining processes, tooling capability, and dimensional quality systems desired

  • MS Word

  • CATIA or similar CAD program 
Additional Information:

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
