Video Editing Assistant information

What is a video editing assistant?

Video Editing Assistants are professionals who support video editors by organizing footage, managing digital assets, assembling rough cuts, and handling technical tasks such as syncing audio and video. They help streamline the editing process, allowing lead editors to focus on creative decisions. Video Editing Assistants may also be responsible for exporting files, adding simple effects, and maintaining project organization to ensure efficient workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a video editing assistant?

To thrive as a Video Editing Assistant, you need a solid understanding of video editing principles, attention to detail, and familiarity with post-production workflows, typically supported by relevant coursework or experience. Proficiency in editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and familiarity with media asset management systems are commonly required. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to take direction help you stand out in this collaborative role. These skills ensure high-quality, timely video outputs and smooth support for lead editors and creative teams.

How does a video editing assistant typically collaborate with editors and other production team members during a project?

As a Video Editing Assistant, you’ll work closely with lead editors, producers, and sometimes directors to streamline the post-production workflow. Your responsibilities often include organizing raw footage, managing asset libraries, creating rough cuts, and incorporating feedback from senior staff. Effective communication and adaptability are key, as you may be asked to quickly adjust timelines or source additional materials. This collaborative environment offers valuable learning opportunities and insight into the full production process, setting a solid foundation for career advancement.

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Marketing & Communications Intern to help tell the story of the innovative technologies shaping the future of aerospace, defense, and advanced transportation. Based in North Logan, Utah, EPS develops advanced energy storage systems that power next-generation aircraft and transportation platforms. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a student who is interested in marketing, communications, social media, branding, public relations, or digital marketing and wants to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
As the Marketing & Communications Intern, you will support a variety of marketing initiatives that strengthen the EPS brand and increase awareness of our products and technology. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership, you will assist with website updates, create engaging social media content, help build the CEO's professional online presence, support marketing campaigns, develop promotional materials, and coordinate trade shows and industry events. You'll also collaborate with engineering, business development, and program management teams to create accurate, compelling content while gaining exposure to executive communications, event planning, digital marketing, and strategic branding.

Experience with LinkedIn, Microsoft Office 365, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Google Analytics, SEO, video editing, or other marketing tools is helpful but not required.
Candidates should be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Marketing, Communications, Business, MBA, Public Relations, or a related field. Prior internships, coursework, campus involvement, or personal projects related to marketing, communications, content creation, branding, or social media are encouraged but not required. We offer a flexible work schedule designed to accommodate class schedules and exam periods, allowing students to gain valuable professional experience while continuing their education.
Limited travel opportunities may be available to support trade shows, conferences, and company events.
