JOB SUMMARY:

The Utah Jazz (NBA) & the Utah Mammoth (NHL), franchises of the Smith Entertainment Group, are looking for an aspiring Video Asset Management Intern to join our dynamic creative services post-production team. This position will primarily focus on Media Asset Management and content workflow for the sports franchise they are selected for, as well as other departments and teams within SEG. The right person for this position must be well-versed in the post-production process, media management, and have an attitude ready to learn. This person should be familiar with media formats for both Photo and Video. In this role, you will need a good sense of visual composition, organization, be open to notes, be comfortable with video editing, tagging high volumes of content. You'll be able to combine your passion for sports with video editing, and post-production. This is a part-time position. Expected to work 20-30 hours a week. The duration of the position is planned for August 1st 2026 to July 31st 2027.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and use Media Asset Management platforms to manage metadata fields.
  • Assist with tagging and organizing media content relating to the Utah Jazz & Utah Mammoth.
  • Tag videos and help organize new content after game nights, recent video shoots, and archive footage.
  • Aid on-set productions with offloading footage and DIT.
  • Assist editors, creators, and designers to find the content they need.
  • Sift, sort and organize new footage for junior and senior editing projects.
  • Edit and export b-roll stringouts or do simple project assembly as needed.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker and problem solver.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:


Digital Asset Management (DAM)

  • Organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of frame rates, codecs, and other technical specifications of cameras and video.
  • Ability to adjust data for high volumes of content, consistently with few errors.

Post Process

  • Basic video editing techniques (like cutting & layering of clips)
  • Basic color correction (like balancing log footage or use of LUTs)
  • Basic audio adjustments (experience with Essential Sounds in Premiere Pro)
  • Assistant editing and project preparation

General

  • Understand frame rates, codecs, and other technical specifications of cameras and video.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (such as Premiere Pro).
  • Motion Graphics (such as Adobe After Effects, Blender, C4D) experience is a plus.
  • Experience and comfortability using Apple products and macOS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 Year degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-1 years of demonstrated professional experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Interest and familiarity in the NBA and NHL is preferred.
  • Flexibility in schedule to assist on productions (including weekends).
  • Experience with metadata, data entry, or analytics.
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) and Media Asset Management (MAM) platforms(ScorePlay) is a plus.
  • Previous video editing experience is a plus.
  • SQL, Javascript, and API connections experience is a plus.
  • Passion for the creative and filming processes.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Be hands-on and proactive.
