The Senior Vice President, Sustainability Risk is responsible for advancing and embedding the sustainability risk framework across BNY. This role assists in leading risk identification, assessment, measurement, regulatory implementation, governance, and oversight activities to strengthen the firm's ability to manage sustainability-related risks.

Reporting to the Head of Board Governance, Sustainability Risk & Communications for Risk & Compliance, this role is ideal for a risk professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working through ambiguity, challenging conventional thinking, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver practical and effective risk solutions.

 We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Sustainability Risk to join our Sustainability Risk team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, Florida

 In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Drive execution and enhancement of the enterprise sustainability risk framework, ensuring practices remain effective, proportionate, and aligned with business and regulatory expectations.
  • Identify, assess and monitor emerging sustainability risks and regulations, interpret requirements, and support timely integration of new expectations into risk frameworks and governance processes.
  • Lead materiality assessments and analytical reviews that support risk prioritization, decision-making, and oversight.
  • Develop and refine sustainability risk methodologies, metrics, key risk indicators, and analytical approaches to strengthen enterprise oversight.
  • Review client and vendor due diligence assessments to identify sustainability-related risk considerations, gaps, inconsistencies, and escalation needs.
  • Translate due diligence findings, regulatory developments, and business impacts into clear risk insights, emerging themes, and practical recommendations.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to implement regulation and embed sustainability risk considerations into business processes.
  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented materials for senior management and governance forums.

 To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, sustainability risk, financial services, consulting, regulatory, or related disciplines.
  • Experience executing risk management frameworks, control environments or regulatory implementation in a complex, heavily regulated organization.
  • Expertise in sustainability risk identification, assessment, materiality, metrics, reporting, regulation or due diligence.
  • Strong analytical skills and judgment, including effective use of AI tools and prompting techniques, to interpret regulatory requirements, assess due diligence findings, identify key issues and gaps, and develop clear risk insights.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions, businesses, and seniority levels in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex regulatory and risk topics clearly to senior and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, delivery-focused approach with the ability to lead independently, challenge constructively, and operate with limited direction.

    Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
