Job description

POSITION TITLE: Safety Technician


REPORTS TO: Vice President of Safety 


Scaffold Resource has been a fixture and steady force in the Mid-Atlantic regionโ€™s scaffold and vertical access industry for more than two decades. Created in 1998, Scaffold Resource has grown in its ability to provide a vast array of vertical access services. It has successfully accomplished this task while expanding its customer base and project capabilities to meet the demands of every conceivable challenge it has been contracted to complete.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: This position reports to the Vice President of Safety and works to promote a safety culture through action-based involvement. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Auditing and implementing the Companyโ€™s safety program and supporting the Operations, Sales, and Estimating teams with jobsite safety for all projects. This includes but is not limited to standard project specific safety documentation, working alongside Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), and Fall Protection Plans. Ensure policies and procedures are in place and followed by employees. This includes performing and documenting three (3) to five (5) audits on jobsites and facilities per day, with regular follow-up as needed, to ensure corrective actions are implemented. Updating and working with the Vice President of Safety and Operations Team on monthly Incident LogConducting Accident/Incident Investigations.Escorting field employees to occupational clinics when necessary.Assisting in the facilitation of any potential claims, in collaboration with the Vice President of Safety and Vice President of Risk Management. Attending and assisting with trainings and agenda items for Foreman, Field Manager, Builder & Laborer meetings.Attending safety seminars, events, and awards banquets as needed. Continuing education to maintain professional certifications. 


COMPETENCIES:

Proficiency in verbal and written English & Spanish required.Independent self-starter: takes the initiative to get the job done, even when not directly asked to do so. Communication and problem-solving skills; Willingness to research and probe into multiple sources (i.e., emails, logs, calling Sales Representatives and Operations personnel directly) to get necessary information. Able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with the ability to meet required deadlines.Organization, collaboration, multi-tasking, and attention to detail.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduated Safety Professional (GSP) preferred.CHST, STSC, OSHA 500 a plus. At least one (1) year of experience in construction safety and working knowledge in the scaffolding industry preferred.Must be able to obtain high level security clearance for entry to secure facilities.Proficient in the use of computers, smart phones and tablets for audits, safety reports, email, and other job-related software and technology. OSHA 30 Hour Certification.Commitment to learning Incident Investigation and Reasonable Suspicion.First Aid and CPR certified, or willingness to become certified. This is a full-time position, which can include night and weekend work. Ability to maintain an active state issued driverโ€™s license.
