Job Summary

The Associate Vice President, under general direction, directs the Office of Assessment, Research, and Planning and departmental operations, initiatives, and activities. Oversees the division's business or other major functional areas activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs the Office of Assessment, Research, and Planning and departmental projects, programs, initiatives, and operations

  • Leads institutional research and data analyses including the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of institutional data to support decision-making

  • Oversees development of dashboards, KPIs, fact books, benchmarking studies, peer comparisons, and predictive analysis

  • Directs university-wide assessments processes for academic and administrative units

  • Serves as the key institutional liaison for accreditation and compliance reporting

  • Leads institutional data governance efforts

  • Oversee campus climate surveys, satisfaction studies, labor market analyses, and stakeholder research

  • Assists the Provost and Vice President for Academic on internal and external issues affecting the University

  • Serves as a member of the Provost's Council

  • Collaborates with internal and external entities to facilitate initiatives, and coordinates special projects as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

  • Drafts and administers relevant University policies, regulations, and rules

  • Monitors and analyzes state and federal legislative issues

  • Directs and assesses continuous improvement efforts

  • Leads the development and implementation of the University's strategic plan, establishing goals and objectives, and means of assessment

  • Represents the Vice President, division and University internally and externally.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides logistical support and relevant, reliable information for institutional assessment, evaluation, accountability, accreditation and planning to Texas A&M International University.

  • Develops, with academic and administrative units, program outcomes and the analytics used to improve comprehensive program assessment.

  • Oversees the production of reports required by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Federal Government (IPEDS).

  • Supervises the Office of Institutional Assessment, Research, and Planning

  • Serves as liaison to SACSCOC

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Master's degree in public administration, education policy, higher education administration, assessment and evaluation, statistics, or related field.

  • Experience - Ten years of progressively responsible management experience, including 3 years' supervisory experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.

Preferred Requirements

  • Doctorate in public administration, education policy, higher education administration, assessment and evaluation, statistics or related field.

  • Eight years of progressively responsible management experience, including 3 years' supervisory experienced.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Abilities

  • Applied statistical methods

  • Database/dashboard design and implementation

  • Strong planning and organizing skills

  • Effective leadership skills
