Job description

The VP of Pharmacy Operations leads end‑to‑end fulfillment strategy and execution across a multi‑site pharmacy network. You will own operational performance, service levels, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and financial outcomes. The role reports to the Chief Pharmacy & Logistics Officer and drives innovation through automation, regionalization, and continuous improvement, building a scalable, patient‑centric operation.

Location: Romeoville, IL (on‑site). Requires regular travel to other pharmacy sites including Florida and California.

What You'll Do:
  • Own operational performance management across the pharmacy network through KPI reporting, forecasting, and standardized operating mechanisms that drive throughput, quality, delivery reliability, and unit economics.
  • Drive large‑scale operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, improve patient outcomes and delivery experience, reduce costs and strengthen operational resilience.
  • Own the strategy and performance of automation systems, driving uptime, throughput optimization, and capital efficiency across the network.
  • Lead network optimization and routing strategies in partnership with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to improve delivery speed, routing efficiency, fulfillment accuracy, and overall network performance.
  • Establish and execute workforce planning & strategy, aligning staffing models with demand forecasts, automation capabilities, productivity targets, and budget.
  • Build, lead and develop a high‑performing operations organization through strong leadership, employee engagement, talent development, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners to ensure seamless execution from production through final‑mile delivery.
  • Own pharmacy licensing strategy and execution across all operating states, ensuring proactive management of new licenses, renewals, and related regulatory requirements in partnership with Legal and Compliance teams to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable FDA, Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements through rigorous operational controls and strong cross‑functional partnership with Quality, People, and Compliance teams.
  • Lead organizational transformation and change management initiatives related to automation, process redesign, operational scaling, and evolving business priorities.
  • Serve as a key operational leader to executive stakeholders, translating business strategy into scalable operational capabilities and execution plans.
What You'll Bring:
  • 12+ years of experience in pharmacy operations, fulfillment, or supply chain, with significant multi‑site leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of leading large‑scale mail‑order pharmacy operations or high‑volume fulfillment operations.
  • Deep experience in workforce planning, labor optimization, and scaling operations in high‑growth environments.
  • Strong understanding of automation and systems integration, with experience leading implementation or optimization initiatives.
  • Experience operating in highly regulated environments, with knowledge of pharmacy licensing, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Data‑driven leader with strong financial and analytical acumen, including ownership of unit economics and operational KPIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align cross‑functional stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience in building, developing, and retaining high‑performing teams.

The target base salary for this position ranges from $234,200 to $275,500, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). Compensation is analyzed and carefully considered based on factors such as location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.

For Ro’ers in the tri‑state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
