Job description

The Vice President of Business Development is part of the Operations department, which residents on the Business Development team and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. As our Vice President of Business Development, you will build and scale CIS's business opportunities and strategic partnerships across both commercial and government accounts, including cloud service providers and reseller channels. You will play a critical role in expanding market reach, developing high-value partner relationships, supporting strategic account growth, and driving revenue opportunities that align with CIS's cybersecurity mission. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the cybersecurity market, an extensive industry network, and the credibility to engage senior executives including CTOs, CISOs, and other decision-makers within partner and customer organizations. The Vice President of Business Development must also bring an entrepreneurial mindset, a builder mentality, and a strong track record of delivering measurable results.

What You'll Do:

  • Support engagement strategies for large enterprise accounts by identifying opportunities, building executive relationships, and advancing strategic sales motions

  • Develop and execute a partnership strategy for cloud service providers (CSP), strategic technology alliances, and reseller ecosystems

  • Identify, recruit, and grow relationships with key partners that can expand market access, accelerate pipeline development, and create long-term revenue opportunities

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior-level executives, including CTOs, CISOs, and other technical and business buyers across target organizations

  • Represent CIS effectively in partner and enterprise customer discussions by articulating customer needs, cybersecurity market dynamics, and the differentiated value CIS brings to the market

  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to shape partner programs, go-to-market motions, value propositions, and joint engagement plans

  • Engage and enable resellers to position CIS offerings effectively, identify target accounts, and support joint business development activities

  • Translate market insights, partner feedback, and customer requirements into actionable recommendations that strengthen CIS strategy and commercial execution

  • Create structure, processes, and reports for the business development function from the ground up while balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution

  • Own CIS's opportunity pipeline and contribute directly to measurable business outcomes, including partner-sourced opportunities, channel growth, strategic account engagement, and enterprise account influence

  • Stay current on cybersecurity trends, buyer priorities, competitive developments, and cloud ecosystem changes that influence partnership strategy and enterprise demand

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing Business Development team

  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Marketing, or related field*

  • 8 - 10+ years of proven experience in business development, strategic partnerships, channel sales, or alliance management within cybersecurity, cloud, or enterprise technology markets

  • 5+ years of experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring individuals and/or teams

  • Demonstrated success building and growing partnerships with key customers and partners including cloud service providers, resellers, distributors, or other strategic channel partners

  • Experience supporting or engaging large enterprise accounts and partnerships, including navigating complex stakeholder environments and long sales cycles

  • Strong existing network across the cybersecurity and cloud ecosystem, with the ability to open doors and build credibility quickly

  • Experience engaging executive-level stakeholders, including CTOs, CISOs, and other senior buyers, in complex enterprise environments

  • Deep understanding of the cybersecurity market, buyer pain points, and the evolving needs of organizations managing cyber risk

  • Ability to connect customers and partners needs to the value CIS can provide in a clear, compelling, and commercially effective way

  • Highly entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build strategy, processes, and partnerships from the ground up in a new function

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills

  • Results-oriented approach with a track record of meeting or exceeding growth, partnership, or revenue objectives

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Experience launching or standing up a new business development, partnerships, or channel function within a growing organization

  • Familiarity with partner program development, reseller enablement, and co-sell motions involving cloud platforms or security-focused solution providers

  • Ability to operate in fast-moving environments with high autonomy and evolving priorities

  • Experience working closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Executive leadership teams to shape market strategy

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, industry trends, and enterprise buying processes relevant to CIS's offerings

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate's degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.

Compensation Range:
