Soni is seeking an experienced Vice President of Business Development for a growing transportation and logistics organization. This high-impact executive role will lead sales strategy, revenue growth, customer acquisition, and business development initiatives while building and scaling a high-performing sales team. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience within transportation, logistics, 3PL brokerage, or other complex operational environments and have a proven track record of driving growth through strategic customer partnerships.
Responsibilities of the Vice President of Business Development:
  • Develop and execute multi-year growth strategies aligned with company revenue goals and strategic objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and scale a high-performing Business Development team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Drive revenue growth by expanding existing customer relationships, increasing wallet share, and securing new customer partnerships.
  • Establish customer-specific pricing strategies focused on profitability, retention, growth, and margin improvement.
  • Develop and manage sales targets, pipeline strategies, and performance metrics across the business development organization.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers, prospects, and industry partners.
  • Oversee customer onboarding processes to ensure seamless transitions from sales through operations.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize CRM, lead generation tools, and business development technology investments.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, customer experience, pricing, quality, marketing, and leadership teams to support customer success.
  • Analyze marketing and trade show investments to maximize ROI and generate measurable revenue opportunities.
  • Lead contract negotiations, customer agreements, NDAs, and partnership discussions in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Identify market opportunities, industry trends, and growth strategies to strengthen the company's competitive position.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings as a thought leader within the logistics space.
  • Champion company values, culture, and customer-first initiatives across the organization.

Requirements of the Vice President of Business Development:
  • 10+ years of proven success in sales leadership and business development.
  • 10+ years of experience managing, developing, and scaling sales teams.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proven experience driving revenue growth, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships.
  • Transportation, logistics, freight, or 3PL brokerage experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience selling complex logistics solutions and managing large customer relationships.
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and customer retention.
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms, lead generation tools, and sales technology.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on leadership style and strong executive presence.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within transportation verticals such as pharmaceutical logistics, oil & gas, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience building sales organizations and implementing scalable business development processes.
  • Experience representing organizations at industry events and trade shows.
  • Strong analytical background with the ability to leverage data to drive sales decisions.

Compensation: $175,000-$230,000 base salary + incentive opportunity
Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
