Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Vice President, Service Delivery As the Vice President, Service Delivery, you will be accountable for the performance of Arcwood's customer-facing business across the continental United States. The role leads the operational delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous (industrial) waste management, technical services, field services, and transportation, while supporting Sales in the pursuit of new customer acquisition and improving retention and expansion within existing customers.

The Vice President, Service Delivery ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operations, high customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement while balancing the need for consistency and enterprise standards with effective and efficient local execution. This means managing the financial performance of four service regions and the transportation division, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. You will analyze financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, working closely with cross-functional teams to align service activities with the company's financial goals and long-term ambitions.

Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, you will spearhead the transformation of our environmental services and transportation divisions into profitable growth engines for the organization. Your mission will be to develop and execute robust business strategies that provide clear road maps for over twenty tech and field service centers and a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles, focusing on increasing organizational effectiveness and delivering strong returns on investment. Working closely with your counterparts in Marketing and Sales, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our growth strategy and your teams will help accelerate organic growth to reach our ambitious 2030 goals. In addition, you will be deeply involved in our inorganic growth strategy as we find diligence and integrate new service businesses into our portfolio.

Success in this role will be defined by your ability to make strategic decisions, ensure operational excellence, manage financial sustainability, implement continuous improvements, and collaborate effectively with sales and other cross-functional teams.

Strategy & Governance

  • Together with Sales partners (VP Regional, Corporate Sales and VP National Programs) as well as Regional Services and Sales Leaders, sets and executes business strategies across four regions to drive growth and profitability in alignment with Arcwood's five-year full potential plan (FPP)
  • Creates clear roadmaps for tech, field, on-site, and transportation services, detailing the capabilities and resources needed to enhance effectiveness and ensure returns on investment
  • Owns business financial performance including cost, productivity, and profitability (gross margin)
  • Ensures execution of corporate policies, programs, and systems across the four regions in alignment with enterprise strategies

Team Leadership & Development

  • Leads the customer-facing, front-end of Arcwood's business with ~700 employees including technical services, field services, onsite services, logistics and transport
  • Recruits, mentors, and develops future service leaders with a focus on accountability and succession planning
  • Fosters a culture of high performance, safety, and employee engagement

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Leads with a cost and productivity focus by ensuring full utilization of people and equipment resources as utilization is a critical factor to balance revenue and profit objectives
  • Ensures consistent delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient environmental services across all sites and service lines
  • Drives adoption of standard operating procedures, compliance frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leads performance reviews and proactively resolves critical issues that impact customer experience or risk
  • Promotes an inclusive workplace culture that is aligned with Company values and that ensures fair practices in recruitment, development, and retention

Logistics & Transportation

  • Implements a hub and spoke network to streamline operations, enhance logistics efficiency, and optimize resource allocation by identifying strategic hub locations, developing effective routes, and integrating advanced technology like a transportation management system (TMS) for real-time tracking and coordination
  • Leverages third-party transportation to enhance operational flexibility, reduce costs, and ensure reliable service delivery by evaluating existing third-party carrier partnerships, optimizing their utilization, and implementing a strategic approach to supplement our transportation capacity as needed

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Maintains and grows relationships with existing customers, ensuring delivery excellence and contract fulfilment
  • Collaborates with Sales to identify expansion opportunities within the existing customer base
  • Supports Sales by providing expertise, collaboration, and operational readiness in pursuit of new customer acquisition
  • Represents the company with community, regulatory, and industry stakeholders

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Leads the services and transportation activities in maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations (RCRA, TSCA, OSHA, DOT)
  • Proactively manages risk and ensures incident investigation, reporting, and root cause analysis are conducted effectively
  • Promotes and sustains Arcwood's safety culture

Financial & Operational Planning

  • Develops and executes the operating plan and annual budget aligned with enterprise financial expectations
  • Leads monthly business reviews, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Clearly understands cost structures and compares them to other service providers
  • Champions cost control, productivity, and resource optimization initiatives
Education - Bachelor's degree in environmental services, transportation, logistics, business administration or related field (required) - Master's degree (preferred)Experience
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience managing field and technical services within the industrial waste or similar industry (required)
  • Previous experience leading an environmental services business at scale or an industrial services business of comparable size and scale with transformation experience (required)
  • Demonstrated success of enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty through effective service management (required)
  • Experience and expertise in transformation through digitization and modernization leading to revenue and profit growth (required)
  • Experience in transportation operations or P&L (preferred)
