Reports To: SVP, Finance, Accounting & IT

Jobs Supervised: Operations Controller, Corporate Payroll Director, Corporate Tax Accountant, Plant Controllers

Basic Function: This role provides leadership over the financial reporting and controllership functions for a $750M+ revenue organization, including oversight of financial reporting, tax, payroll, plant accounting, and internal controls. The position ensures the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial results, while maintaining a strong internal control environment and safeguarding company assets.

In addition to core controllership responsibilities, the VP Finance & Corporate Controller leads financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning, and delivers insights that support business performance and operational decision-making. This role partners closely with senior leadership to enhance financial discipline, evaluate performance, and support the Companyโ€™s strategic and operational objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Reviews and supervises the preparation of internal financial reports.
  • Supervises the preparation of the consolidated Federal Income Tax Return and individual Federal and State tax returns.
  • Establishes and updates accounting policies.
  • Protects corporate assets through the development and implementation of sound accounting policies, procedures and controls.
  • Provides meaningful and accurate financial data and analysis to management for timely managerial decisions and controls.
  • Develop financial analysis of short- and long-term financial goals and monitor actual results against the plans.
  • Develop a qualified and motivated staff to meet current needs and future plans.
  • Keep abreast of financial regulations impacting the Corporation.
  • Organize and manage the development of annual operating plan and monthly forecasts.
  • Analyze and assist in development of annual capital spending plan.
  • Interprets budgets and operating data for management.
  • Ensures the Company complies with applicable tax and financial reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Credit Manager on implementation and maintenance of effective credit analysis and risk management functions.
  • Responsible for the overall functioning of the Payroll and plant accounting functions and collaborates on Corporate office accounting.
  • Coordinate company-wide JSOX compliance efforts, ensuring alignment with internal control requirements and corporate governance standards.
  • Responsible for financial reporting and budgeting software package (OneStream).
  • Other duties as directed by the SVP, Finance, Accounting & IT, CEO or Board of Directors.

Education Required: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. MBA or other advanced business degree is a plus. CPA strongly preferred.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with clear advancement into leadership roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in controllership, including financial reporting, general ledger, cost accounting, and internal controls.
  • Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams and partnering with executive leadership to drive business performance.
  • Track record of increasing responsibility across both operational finance and corporate accounting, ideally within a multi-site organization.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and experience operating in a multinational environment, including coordination with global parent or international entities, is preferred.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, including integration activities, is a plus.

Personal Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing industry and demonstrated knowledge across a wide area of financial operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial applications software.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all business levels.

Travel Requirements: Ability to travel approximately 10โ€“20% domestically and internationally to support Cleaver-Brooks locations, attend company meetings/events, and collaborate with business leaders across the organization.

Internal Contacts: Frequent contact with internal customers at all levels.

External Contacts: Occasional contact with external customers, most often banking or auditing representatives.

Physical Skill and Effort: Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort.

Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions.
