This role sits at the intersection of creative vision and commercial execution, responsible for driving synch revenue while positioning Kobalt as a best-in-class partner in the advertising space.

Reporting to the SVP, Global Creative Synch, the VP will serve as a strategic leader within the U.S. advertising market, owning key client relationships, clearing deals, and collaborating cross-functionally to maximize opportunities across Kobaltโ€™s global publishing catalogue.

This is a senior leadership role for someone with deep industry relationships, sharp commercial instincts, and a track record of closing meaningful, market-shaping deals.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Rights Clearance & Negotiation: Manage, negotiate and close synchronization requests, ensuring all rights are cleared accurately and efficiently while balancing creative and commercial priorities. Negotiate complex licensing agreements while maintaining deal momentum.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with music supervisors, advertising agencies, production companies, directors, and other key decision-makers across advertising. Serve as a senior market-facing representative of Kobalt, cultivating trusted, long-term partnerships with key creative and commercial decision-makers.
  • Proactive Business Development: Drive strategy across new business opportunities in advertising and branded content. Develop tailored and trackable outreach that translates relationship-building into consistent deal flow and incremental revenue growth.
  • Client & Writer Engagement:Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Kobalt clients, including songwriters, artists, and their representatives, positioning their music thoughtfully and competitively within the sync marketplace.
  • Team Leadership & Market Oversight: Lead and oversee the New York Creative Synch Team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and performance management. Set clear revenue goals and expectations for direct reports to ensure alignment with department objectives.

What Youโ€™ll Bring

  • An established reputation within the advertising synch and music supervision community, with senior-level relationships
  • 8 or more years of leadership experience in creative synch, advertising music supervision and a consistent record of driving revenue.
  • Advanced expertise in music copyright, publishing, master rights, and complex licensing structures.
  • A proven ability to originate, pitch, and close significant advertising synch deals that deliver both creative impact and commercial return.
  • Strong commercial instincts, executive presence, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset focused on revenue growth, market expansion, and continuous improvement.
  • Adaptability and composure in a fast-moving environment, with a reputation for delivering results.
  • Fluency in core business and presentation tools, and the professionalism expected of a senior executive.
  • Based in the New York area with the ability to travel as required.

What Success Looks Like

  • In the first 3 months: Youโ€™ve built strong internal relationships, understand Kobaltโ€™s catalogue and workflows, and are actively pitching and clearing sync opportunities.
  • In 6 months: Youโ€™re closing deals independently, contributing to revenue growth and expanding Kobaltโ€™s presence with key creative partners.
  • In 12 months: Youโ€™re recognised internally and externally as a trusted creative partner, consistently delivering strong sync outcomes for clients and writers.

Key Behaviors for Success

  • Strategic Creative Leadership: Demonstrates the ability to integrate creative insight with commercial strategy, delivering outcomes that advance both artistic vision and revenue objectives
  • Senior Relationship Stewardship: Cultivates and sustains trusted, long-term
