Vice President of Special Events

As the Vice President of Special Events you will lead the special events division for our organization which is composed of major universities, sports venues, state fairs, concerts and more. This position has a focus on innovatively and consistently delivering forward thinking operational and service excellence to clients within their portfolio. You will also play a critical role in driving business growth within the special events division. This role will be based in vibrant Raleigh, North Carolina and has executive oversight for all major events within the special events division.

What You'll Do

Strategy & Market Growth

  • Enhance existing client relationships with a focus on communication, meeting and exceeding client needs and expectations, and the continuous improvement of day-to-day operations, revenue controls, and service excellence. 

  • Leading all business development within the special events division. Develop new business relationships to expand the business in the division, identifying new business leads, developing and leading proposals and presentations, building proformas, managing client implementation, responding to RFPs, etc. 

  • Develop goals and objectives for each account, fully understanding, communicating, and executing these directing, coordinating, and delegating relative activities to the operational team. 

  • Plan, coordinate and execute all events and conduct both internal and external After Action Reviews (AARs). 

  • Review and analyze activities, costs, operational and service data to assess performance, efficiency, and productivity and implement necessary adjustments accordingly and in a timely manner. 

  • Develop, implement, direct, and evaluate the division’s Standard Operating Procedures, practices, tools, etc. necessary to support the endeavors in the field. 

  • Lead a professional team with a focus on operational and customer service excellence.   

  • Responsible for the development, performance management, engagement, and all other culture and people management activities of the division’s Operations Team. 

What You Bring

  • 5+ years management experience in the parking industry. 

  • 3+ years of events management experience. 

  • Major events (30,000+ people) management experience.

  • Experience managing the full sales cycle, to include identifying new business opportunities, active outreach, creating proformas, writing proposals, negotiating agreements and responding to RFPs. 

  • Solid experience in budgeting, P&Ls building proformas, and fiscal responsibility. 

  • Experience in leading a team of direct reports and indirectly leading workforce teams of both professional and hourly employees. 

  • Effectively managed teams including duties related to staffing, performance management, engagement, and corrective action processes with an appreciation for diversity and promoting an inclusive working environment. 

  • Actively mentor and coach the team, working to develop future leaders by sharing knowledge and empowering the team. 

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills. 

  • An entrepreneurial nature. 

  • Exceptional work ethic, with a desire to drive results. 

  • A leader that can immediately take ownership and create positive impac.t 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in a director level events management role, overseeing large-scale 30,000+ people events. 

  • Currently working in a director level parking management role. 

  • Currently based in North Carolina, or willing to relocate.
