Job description

The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has a new opportunity for an experienced Corporate Accountant to support our research being conducted at Hennepin Healthcare. The ideal candidate must have working knowledge of SAGE Intacct accounting systems.
This is a hybrid position requiring a consistent presence in downtown Minneapolis, MN.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The accountant will support, customize, and troubleshoot Sage Intacct software system to meet financial reporting needs while ensuring accuracy and compliance of financial data reported out to end users. The accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly corporate financial statements and various types of reports to management and will routinely analyze financial information, reconcile various accounts with strong attention to detail and accountability. The accountant will be an integral part of the month end and year end close process for HHRI's Finance Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial reporting package for the VP of Finance. Prepares corporate financial statements, department managers' reports, and other ad hoc monthly reports as needed.
  • Ability to develop different financial reports in SAGE Intacct accounting system for Finance, Administration and Department end users.
  • Prepare journal entries and coordinate month end close with grant accountants. Reconcile balance sheet accounts. Review work of other accounting personnel for accuracy and assist in training of accounting staff.
  • Analyze investment activity, allocate earnings, determine realized and unrealized gains and losses, and prepare various investment schedules for VP of Finance.
  • Maintain fixed asset records on separate software system.
  • Provide support to the Finance Systems Manager with other finance and accounting related systems as needed.
  • Prepare audit schedules, assist with process documentation, and help prepare for Organization's annual audit and 990 tax return filing.
  • Assist in resolving complex data processing issues. Also assists in preparing corporate budgets. Uploads budget information into the general ledger.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education/Experience:
Any combination of equivalent education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a baccalaureate degree in accounting and a minimum of 5 years' experience with at least 3 years' experience in corporate accounting. Non-profit accounting experience a plus. Knowledge and working with SAGE Intacct accounting systems is required.
Skill, Knowledge & Ability:
Candidate must have experience in working with SAGE Intacct accounting systems. Demonstrates a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and accounting system software. Knowledge of internal controls, processes, analysis, and financial statement preparation is required. Ability to complete work in an accurate and timely manner, strong problem-solving skills, demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Maintains confidentiality and displays high standards of attendance and punctuality. Understanding of non-profit accounting pronouncements and standards a plus.
