Job Title:  VP, Audience & Content Growth

Position Overview

Cox Media Group is seeking a Vice President of Audience & Content Growth to architect and accelerate the next era of CMG Radio's audience leadership. This executive position is responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive audience growth across broadcast, streaming, podcasting, social, and emerging media platforms. The goal is to maximize the impact of on-air talent, strengthen brand relevance, and enhance measurable engagement at every audience touchpoint.

Reporting directly to the President of CMG Radio, this leader will act as the principal authority on audience strategy, ensuring that programming, digital distribution, analytics, and talent development are integrated into a unified growth engine. The role is pivotal in partnering with, developing, and elevating CMG's on-air talent and programming leaders, working collaboratively with Head of Programming Strategy, Market Managers, and Program Directors to shape show strategies, refine content direction, improve format execution, and discover multi-platform growth opportunities for talent.

The Vice President of Audience & Content Growth will foster a performance-driven culture rooted in accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement-ensuring our talent has the tools, clarity, and strategic support needed to win in today's competitive media environment.

This role sits at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and operational discipline. Success will be measured by stronger ratings performance, expanded digital engagement, elevated talent brands, and consistent execution across markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Enterprise Audience & Content Strategy

  • Develops and leads CMG Radio's audience growth strategy across all markets and platforms.
  • Defines and operationalize digital engagement and performance metrics.
  • Collaborates with the Head of Programming Strategy, Market Managers, and Program Directors to align local execution with company-wide strategies.
  • Establishes scalable, repeatable growth frameworks for use across markets.

On-Air Talent & Show Development Partnership

  • A strategic partner to enhance show strategy, format execution, and content direction.
  • Develops structured coaching system and performance scorecards for talent and shows.
  • Elevates on-air talent into multi-platform brands, including audio, social, video, and podcast.
  • Leads talent recruitment, succession planning, and maintains an active talent pipeline.
  • Identifies cross-market collaboration opportunities to expand brand scale and audience reach.
  • Fosters a culture centered on accountability, feedback, and continuous improvement.

Data-Driven Audience Growth

  • Partners with the Head of Programming Research to align audience insights and execute the CMG Radio Playbook.
  • Integrates Nielsen, streaming, podcast, and digital analytics into weekly programming strategies.
  • Translates audience data into actionable recommendations that drive measurable improvements.
  • Implements standardized dashboards and regular reporting across markets.
  • Aligns audience performance metrics with revenue priorities and growth objectives.

Multi-Platform Distribution & Innovation

  • Expands distribution beyond traditional broadcast to include streaming, podcasting, video, social, and emerging platforms.
  • Develops scalable digital content initiatives that enhance broadcast brands.
  • Champions experimentation while maintaining focus on core ratings performance.
  • Identifies and adapts to emerging audience behaviors proactively in content strategy.

Brand Stewardship & Content Excellence

  • Protects and modernizes CMG's brand architecture across all formats and markets.
  • Ensures consistent and compelling imaging and storytelling standards.
  • Establish editorial guidelines that reflect evolving audience expectations.
  • Promotes an audience-first approach in all content decisions.

Organizational & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Builds, mentors, and develop high-performing content and programming leaders.
  • Works closely with Sales, Marketing, Digital, and Technology teams to align audience growth strategies with revenue goals.
  • Advocates for audience priorities in enterprise leadership discussions.
  • Reinforces CMG's people-first culture through clarity, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of senior-level experience in radio programming, content strategy, or audience growth leadership across multiple competitive markets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in elevating on-air talent and building high-performing shows across formats.
  • Proven experience working with local programming leaders to improve ratings and audience engagement.
  • Deep expertise in Nielsen PPM and digital analytics platforms, with a track record of leveraging insights for performance improvements.
  • Experience leading multi-platform distribution strategies, including broadcast, streaming, podcasting, social, and video.
  • A record of driving measurable audience growth across platforms.
  • Strong background in managing creative teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience building content P&L business cases and evaluating ROI for new initiatives.
  • Adept in talent negotiation and managing external content partnerships.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FCC rules and broadcast compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading top-rated stations across multiple formats and markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy brands for digital relevance.
  • Experience in developing scalable talent ecosystems and digital franchises.
  • Proven success in building enterprise frameworks that enhance local execution.
