VP of Finance

Austin Hybrid

Circa $240,000 plus equity

ShortList is recruiting for a Vice President of Finance for a profitable Austin\-based B2B SaaS business, with an established client base of leading organisations.

The Vice President of Finance will build out a robust finance function, introduce the rigour and discipline required to support continued growth, and serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO.

This is not a back\-office or controller appointment. We're looking for a finance leader with experience building from the ground up, managing through complexity, and contributing at the highest level of a business.

Key Requirements for the VP of Finance

  • 10+ years of senior finance experience, including at least 4 years in a SaaS environment.

  • Prior appointment as Vice President of Finance, Senior Director of Finance, or Controller on a CFO track at a SaaS business with ARR between $10M and $50M.

  • Demonstrable, hands\-on experience of at least one strategic transaction, including sell\-side processes, recapitalisations, growth equity raises, or significant acquisitions.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including SaaS revenue recognition and deferred revenue management.

  • Experience in regulated B2B software is desirable.

  • Prior direct involvement in the sale of a private company is highly advantageous

  • A background in investment banking, transaction advisory, or private equity operations earlier in the career is a plus.

Key Skills required for the VP of Finance

    • The ability to build a finance organisation from the ground up, including designing and hiring an FP&A capability to underpin significant growth.

    • Command of the SaaS metrics that drive business performance

    • Confident in commercial finance, including pricing strategy, deal desk support and customer\-level profitability analysis.

    • Experienced in capital strategy, including managing banking relationships, treasury operations, and equity financing.

    • Capable of owning and integrating financial systems, with the discipline to drive a consistently efficient close cycle.

    • Experienced in leading the financial workstream of a formal M&A process, including data room, due diligence, financial modelling, and adviser management.

    • Able to distil complex financial positions into clear, concise board\-level communications.

    • A true partner to the CEO, willing to challenge where appropriate

    • An individual who is aiming to progress to a CFO role in the near future

This VP of Finance role requires 3 days per week in the office in central Austin.

Please note you must be based in Austin currently (or actively willing to relocate) to be considered for this role and be able to demonstrate recent experience in a SaaS business with ARR between $10M and $50M.
