Learn more at www.dashiell.com. Primary Function:

The IT Director - Enterprise System Architect is a deeply hands-on technical role responsible for standing up and maintaining the systems, environments, and tooling that support the transformation program. Business and functional requirements are owned by the transformation team; this role takes those defined requirements and makes the platforms real - setting the technical architecture strategy and roadmap, provisioning and configuring environments, managing licensing, establishing integration and middleware, setting up and operating the testing toolchain, and building the reporting and data foundation. The role ensures candidate platforms such as InEight, IFS, Salesforce, and Oracle Fusion are correctly licensed, configured, integrated, tested, and deployed consistently across environments. The position is based in our Houston, Texas office located at 12301 Kurland Drive, Suite 400 and reports to Dashiell's SVP, Transformation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Define and maintain the technical architecture strategy and roadmap for the enterprise platform landscape - target-state systems, environments, integration, and data architecture - and sequence the technical work that delivers it in step with the transformation roadmap.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain enterprise platform environments (development, QA/test, UAT, staging, and production) for systems such as InEight, IFS, Salesforce, and Oracle Fusion, including sandbox provisioning, refresh cycles, and configuration management.
  • Own software licensing across enterprise platforms - sizing, procurement support, license allocation and assignment, environment/instance entitlements, and ongoing license compliance and true-up tracking.
  • Set up and operate the testing toolchain, including test management and automation tools (e.g., HP ALM / Micro Focus ALM Octane, Tricentis Tosca/qTest, or equivalent), test environment configuration, test data management, and defect tracking integration.
  • Coordinate the technical execution of testing cycles (system, integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance) and support cutover, go-live readiness, and early post-go-live stabilization from a systems standpoint.
  • Build and maintain integration and middleware connections between platforms, including APIs, iPaaS/ESB tooling (e.g., Boomi, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, or native platform connectors), and batch/event data flows.
  • Set up and connect reporting and analytics infrastructure, with a focus on Databricks - configuring connections to source systems, building and maintaining data pipelines/ingestion, and enabling downstream reporting and dashboards.
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, and identity teams to implement non-functional requirements - performance, scalability, availability, disaster recovery, identity and access management, and data protection - across environments.
  • Support data migration execution, coordinating source-to-target mapping, load/reconciliation, and validation in the appropriate environments.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical point of contact for implementation partners and vendors, validating that configurations, integrations, and environment builds meet Dashiell's standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, environment/licensing records, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
How You Will Make an Impact

Set the Technical Architecture Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define the target-state technical architecture across systems, environments, integration, and data, and translate it into a practical, sequenced roadmap of technical work.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, patterns, and reference designs (integration, environments, security, data) that platforms and implementation partners must follow.
  • Keep the technical roadmap aligned with the transformation roadmap - flagging dependencies, sequencing, and technical risks so decisions are made with clear trade-offs.
  • Maintain a forward view of technical debt, customization, and platform evolution (upgrades, releases, end-of-life) and plan the work needed to stay current and maintainable.

Stand Up Environments & Manage Licensing

  • Provision and configure environments (dev, QA, UAT, staging, production) for enterprise platforms, with defined promotion paths, configuration control, and refresh/sandbox management.
  • Own the licensing lifecycle across platforms - sizing, allocation, entitlement management, and compliance/true-up tracking - in coordination with vendors and procurement.
  • Maintain accurate environment, configuration, and licensing records so the program always has a clear view of what is deployed and where.

Build Integration & Middleware Connections

  • Implement the integration and middleware connections between platforms such as InEight, IFS, Salesforce, and Oracle Fusion, including API management, message/event flows, and batch interfaces.
  • Drive standardization and reuse of integration components; minimize point-to-point complexity and custom code, and maintain a technical exception register, escalating risk where complexity grows.
  • Work hands-on with implementation partners to ensure integrations are built, tested, and operating reliably.

Set Up & Run the Testing Toolchain

  • Stand up and administer test management and automation tooling (e.g., HP ALM / Micro Focus ALM Octane, Tricentis Tosca/qTest, or equivalent) and connect it to defect tracking and environments.
  • Configure dedicated test environments and manage test data so system, integration, regression, performance, and UAT cycles can run reliably.
  • Support cutover, go-live readiness, and early post-go-live stabilization from a systems and testing standpoint.
  • Implement security, compliance, and data-protection controls across environments, including identity and access management, audit, disaster recovery, and data retention.

Connect & Enable Reporting on Databricks

  • Set up and connect Databricks to enterprise source systems, building and maintaining the ingestion and data pipelines needed for reporting.
  • Establish the data foundation that enables standard reporting and dashboards for project performance, margin, cash, risk, and resource utilization.
  • Promote integration and data consistency across systems supporting planning, engineering, procurement, construction, finance, HR, and HSE.
  • Ensure the underlying data and integration environment is ready and reliable so analytics, workflow automation, and AI-driven insights can be built on top of it.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree is a plus but not required.

Industry Experience

  • 8+ years in enterprise IT, with significant time in hands-on solution/technical architecture, integration, or platform engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring, integrating, and standing up environments for major enterprise system programs (ERP/CRM/HR/field).
  • Experience within engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, or large capital-project environments is strongly preferred, including familiarity with project-based models (project controls, project accounting, revenue recognition, contract and change management).

Technical & Integration Skills

  • Experience defining technical architecture strategy, roadmaps, standards, and reference designs for an enterprise platform landscape, and sequencing the technical work to deliver them.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, integrating, or administering one or more of the platforms under evaluation - InEight, IFS, Salesforce, and/or Oracle Fusion - or closely comparable ERP/CRM/project-controls platforms.
  • Proven experience provisioning and managing environments (dev/QA/UAT/staging/production), configuration management, and release/deployment pipelines (CI/CD where applicable).
  • Experience managing enterprise software licensing - sizing, allocation, entitlements, and compliance/true-up tracking.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and administering test management and automation tooling (e.g., HP ALM / Micro Focus ALM Octane, Tricentis Tosca/qTest, or equivalent), including test data and defect-tracking integration.
  • Strong middleware and integration expertise, including APIs, iPaaS/ESB tooling (e.g., Boomi, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services), and event/batch patterns.
  • Experience setting up and connecting reporting/analytics platforms, with hands-on Databricks experience (connections, ingestion/pipelines, and enabling downstream reporting) strongly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of enterprise systems across project management, project accounting, purchasing, inventory, subcontracts, vendor management, time and expense, HR, and financials.
  • Awareness of security, compliance, and data-protection requirements for enterprise systems, including identity and access management, audit, disaster recovery, and data retention.

Digital Platform & Market Acumen

  • Familiarity with the enterprise software landscape relevant to project-based companies across planning, finance, CRM, HR, procurement, project controls, and field execution.
  • Experience providing hands-on technical input during platform selection - building proofs of concept, standing up trial/sandbox environments, and validating integration and configuration feasibility.
  • Ability to take defined requirements from the transformation team and turn them into working configurations, integrations, environments, and test setups.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across operations, finance, HR, supply chain, IT, and HSE, and to hold implementation partners to technical standards.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills - able to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders and document designs and decisions clearly.
  • Experience in large transformation programs, managing competing priorities while maintaining focus on quality, security, and stability.
  • A problem-solving, delivery-focused mindset: structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable working through ambiguity.
  • High level of ownership, integrity, and professionalism when representing the transformation to internal and external stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
