Overview

The Manager supports enterprise healthcare transformation initiatives by leading workstreams, advising clients, and ensuring successful execution across complex projects. This role operates at the intersection of delivery leadership and client engagement, requiring strong critical thinking, structured problem solving, and the ability to translate strategy into action.

The Manager works directly with government stakeholders and internal leadership to drive outcomes, manage priorities, and ensure alignment across program objectives. They oversee day-to-day execution, guide consulting teams, and contribute to long-term program success through proactive leadership and relationship management.

The environment is fast-paced and often ambiguous, requiring adaptability, accountability, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage discrete workstreams within large healthcare transformation initiatives
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, providing insight, guidance, and responsive communication
  • Translate client needs into structured approaches, actionable plans, and measurable outcomes
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to address complex challenges and inform decision-making
  • Oversee day-to-day delivery activities, ensuring timelines, quality, and deliverables are met
  • Manage and mentor consulting teams, including task delegation, performance feedback, and development support
  • Provide career management for a small subset of team members, supporting growth and progression
  • Develop executive-ready presentations, briefings, and decision support materials
  • Coordinate across stakeholders to ensure alignment, communication, and integration across workstreams
  • Identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance delivery, and add client value
  • Support project or program management activities, including planning, reporting, and performance tracking

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum 8 years of experience in consulting, federal healthcare environments (highly preferable     within VHA)
  • · Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • · Experience working directly with clients, including advising and relationship management
  • · Demonstrated ability to lead workstreams and manage teams in complex environments
  • · Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities
  • · Experience with project or program management methodologies (PMI/Agile preferred)
  • · Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
  • · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level communication
  • · Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in ambiguity
  • · Proactive, accountable, and results-oriented mindset
  • · Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent required

All candidates must be able to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
