Automotive Operations Manager/Shop Foreman

Job Overview:
The Operations Manager/Shop Foreman is responsible for service excellence, managing shop workflow efficiency and assisting technicians to maximize their weekly performance. This position works very closely with the Service Manager to oversee the quality of work on customer vehicles and maximizing shop efficiency.
We are looking for leader who is energetic, enjoys motivating their team to success and is dedicated to promoting a positive work environment. Our culture is highly protected so candidates must have a positive attitude and be able to raise others to higher levels of performance. The team members we are looking for must seek out solutions to tough problems with a strong passion for doing what's right for our customers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with the Service Manager to distribute work to technicians.
  • Manage and oversee individual technician workloads and overall workflow in the service area.
  • Oversee technician progress through internal training requirements and coach technicians to prepare for ASE and internal Christian Brothers certifications.
  • Train and mentor new technicians. This position will sign off on technician skills.
  • The position will oversee all vehicles coming through shop
  • Conduct quarterly technician performance touchpoints to establish and monitor the progress of career goals and employee performance.
  • Educate technicians to uphold brand and quality standards of troubleshooting customer concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Manage and maintain shop supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor bulk fluid levels.
  • Monitor shop efficiency through technician hours reports and ticket audit process.
  • Manage scan tool subscriptions.
  • Distribute shop housekeeping tasks among all technicians by promoting our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Enforce safety regulations and protocols.
  • Work closely with the service department and effectively communicate customer concerns and assist with customer complaint resolution when necessary.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures as outlined in the current Employee Handbook
  • Ensure quality of work, attitude, and performance meets or exceeds guest satisfaction goals
  • Maintain a personal positive attitude and positive communications at all times
  • Open and close stores on a daily basis
  • Ensure all equipment is fully operational and in good working order.
  • Ensure technicians have the resources needed to do their job
  • Act in a professional manner suitable as to represent a quality organization with which you are employed, always and in every instance projecting the characteristics of honesty and integrity
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years work experience in Automotive Industry
  • 7+ years Supervisory or Management experience in the Automotive Industry
  • Must have experience in independent shop environment (non-corporate experience required)
  • Must be outgoing and enjoy working in team environments
  • Must be able to multitasker
  • Proficiency in Windows based computer software and automotive store applications
  • Experience in TekMetric software application preferred, but not required
  • Graduation from an industry recognized service training program preferred but not required
  • ASE Service Consultant certification or equivalent experience preferred
  • Aptitude for learning additional skills and processes.
  • Professional appearance and strong communication
  • A desire for long-term career development
  • Current driver's licenses with clean driving history

Physical Requirements:
  • Being on your feet for the majority of the workday (standing, walking, etc.)
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying objects over 50 lbs.
  • Driving manual transmission vehicles
  • Keeping a brisk work pace in a high-volume environment
  • Using a keyboard and mouse several times daily
  • Using a standard handset phone several times daily
