Job description

Description
To achieve success at Herrero Builders, we expect certain behaviors that are aligned with our core ideologies that will allow the VDC Manager to perform the following tasks:
• Implement and promote the company's VDC vision across your project portfolio. Partner with the VDC Director to align project VDC plans with company strategy and ensure compliance with BIM/VDC standards, execution plans, and QA/QC requirements, including HCAI (OSHPD) and other complex regulatory environments.
• Drive consistent VDC adoption and performance across all projects. Ensure teams follow established processes such as BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), coordination workflows, and model handoff procedures to deliver quality 3D, 4D, 5D, and 6D outcomes.
• Oversee VDC implementation across multiple projects. Work with project and operations leaders to determine the right VDC applications, including coordination modeling, 4D scheduling, laser scanning, prefabrication modeling, and other use cases based on project needs, risks, and requirements.
• Track VDC milestones and project deliverables. Provide technical leadership, resolve complex coordination challenges, and ensure BIM deliverables, coordination approvals, and regulatory submissions are completed on schedule.
• Identify common VDC challenges, resource constraints, and improvement opportunities across projects. Adjust plans and escalate issues when needed to keep projects on track.
• Manage and mentor VDC Engineers, Coordinators, and hybrid VDC/Project Engineering staff. Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to strengthen technical and collaboration skills.
• Allocate personnel, software, training, and other VDC resources across projects. Balance staffing assignments based on project complexity, schedules, and workload demands.
• Manage portfolio-level spending for software, equipment, and training. Track costs, recommend resource investments, and ensure efficient use of VDC tools and technologies.
• Evaluate and promote emerging technologies such as reality capture, robotics, AI/ML, and AR/VR. Support pilot programs and provide recommendations for broader adoption based on measurable results.
• Coordinate with IT and the VDC Director to ensure project teams have the required hardware, software, licenses, cloud platforms, and integrated project control systems. Support deployment, training, and effective use of approved tools and workflows.
• Serve as the primary VDC contact for owners, clients, design teams, trade partners, and regulatory agencies. Communicate VDC execution plans and ensure digital deliverable expectations are met.
• Contribute VDC expertise during pursuits and proposals. Develop BIM execution strategies, 3D/4D visualizations, and value-focused presentations that demonstrate successful VDC applications.
• Oversee model QA/QC throughout all project phases to confirm compliance with quality standards, contract requirements, data security policies, and model management procedures.
• Identify and address risks such as design gaps, insufficient model detail, and late design changes. Develop proactive solutions, implement contingency plans, and escalate critical issues to project leadership and the VDC Director when necessary.
